Here's my answer, my Marx-loving comrade:

A creative, competitive America is the answer to a changing world, not trade wars that would close doors, create greater barriers, and destroy millions of jobs. We should always remember: Protectionism is destructionism.

Well, gee golly gosh: Then we might as well not have any borders or sovereignty...

Free-for-all, one global government. And free-trade to fulfill Karl Marx’s vision

Marx thought, according to your quote, that free trade will lead to social revolution. Do you? If so, you’ll be on board with central_va.

Well, now...

Let’s look at the balance sheet:

Free trade has enriched the US HOW much?

Oh, yeah...that little number no one likes to discuss when it’s inconvenient to the myopic view:

$60,000,000,000,000 negative and still counting every month.

Free trade has been a ride that will solve all of our social and economic ills; should it continue unabated?

Sure: Go for broke.

Oh dear, someone has confused the budget and trade deficits. Again.

No, sonny...

I understand how our economy has been eviscerated.

It would do you well to grasp that as well.

Pathetic shot; try again if you must.

You know what’s pathetic? Looking at a balance sheet that shows our politicians spend too much money, and blaming it on some poor schlub buying plastic lawn furniture at Wal-Mart. With economic arguments like that, we don’t even need libs.

Ah. So the panacea is solely reducing spending and eliminating government and regulation.

Pathetic are you fringe conservatives that believe 1+2=4 and that the Constitution provides for no regulation at all.

If anything, Marx’s writings are, in fact, prescient as his vision is unfolding right before our eyes.

Being ignorant of that and refusing to identify all of the causes is pathetic, not your juvenile little snipes.

That's one way of admitting that you are a Marxist, I'll grant you that.

Panacea? Anyone with a fundamental understanding of the English language can see I never suggested it was. Although to bring us back to the topic (you protectionists tend to stray far afield), cutting the ratio of government employees to manufacturing employees would be a great start. If only someone could find a way without raising taxes even higher.

Wow...a new movie:

“Desperately Seeking Justification”

I presume you would also attack me for my view on assisted suicide as well...

Had you actually desired discussion, I would have participated. Like the pattern, you sniped a fellow Conservative.

Sniping began in comment #23, comrade. Then the economic ignorance, then the "desperate" (your word) flinging of anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

Let me leave you with this question, from a fellow Conservative. Do you think Donald Trump understands the difference between the trade and budget deficits? I think he does. What's your excuse?

You can keep your fantasy, rude boy.

I have better things to do than to demonstrate how myopic your views are... that your assumptions about me are, in fact, in error.

A better response from me would have initially been “FISH ON”, as this flak was totally expected.

Alternatively, 1. you could demonstrate how myopic my views are for entertainment value, as you've shown that you don't understand much of them at all, and 2. you could do the same with my assumptions.

Because from where I sit, you are a Marx-quoting, Marx admiring economist poseur who doesn't understand the difference between trade and budget deficits, for starters. And that stuff is covered in Econ 101.

You’ll have to do better than that to get me riled.

From where I sit, you’re as useful as fiber.

Thanks for that, by the way.
