BIG GUMNENT to be sure.
CBOT and properties owned by Democrat-donating Billionaires will be exempted in 3..., 2..., 1...
I just wish they could demand that all these greedy govt retirees MUST live in the area where they are getting their pensions from....let them lie in the crap they’ve created...
10% of current house value every year MIGHT fix the debt......
If anyone thinks this massive tax increase will solve Chicago's fiscal problems they are naive. The large tax increase will soon be spent and then there will be another fiscal crisis.
Oh, so they have a revenue problem, not a spending problem.
SHA: Congratulations!
Wish I could leave the d-rat-hole of Broward county FL.
“Escaped from Chicago in April of this year and moved to the Orlando area after living in Chicago for the last 17 years and in the Chicagoland area all of my life. Anyone who didn’t see this coming needs to get out asap, this is just the beginning of the Chicago & Illinois implosion. “
Unfortunately, places “to escape to” are getting fewer and further between. Almost without exception, governments have sealed their fates with the largesse they’ve heaped on their PE’s. The end is not far off when everywhere is Chicago. There is no escape!
“The large tax increase will soon be spent and then there will be another fiscal crisis.
SPENT? no Stolen!
You’ve really got admire the Chutzpah of these corrupt Democrats from time to time. they KNOW that the people that vote for them are freakin’ STUPID.
Gotta love Democrat morons though.
They don’t blame themselves for their inability to stop spending like drunken sailors partying in Trump Tower, but the REPUBLICANS IN SPRINGFIELD!!
From the Trib:
“It’s not as if we weren’t warned,” said Ald. Joe Moore, 49th. “We have known for several years that the pension shortfall was going to cause us to make some really painful decisions, particularly if we didn’t receive any relief from Springfield, and we didn’t receive any relief from Springfield.”
I Rob Productive Hard-Working Property Owners Because Thats Where the Money Is - Pick a politician, any politician BTW, they’re above the law because they write the law.
“Socialism Is Legal Plunder” - Frederic Bastiat wrote that and this - “It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.”
Our wonderful nation started with a tax revolution. I guess the current crop of politicians forget that fact. These people need money to pay the millions of Third World invaders and everyone knows it. I tell you that our ordinary political institutions are no longer able to control the politician. Our nation’s(we the people) wealth is being raped to support people that do not even belong here.
the choice for the rest of us is to get in on govt welfare....disability....why work?....disability might give you some property tax relief for one thing...
That’s an excellent plan. With so many taxpayers fleeing the city, they have to raise taxes on the remaining working people so they can still carry the load for those who want to be supported in the style to which they have been accustomed.
Sympathy for conservative Chicago area FReepers. Sounds like it’s past time to get out.
Post of the day. LOL!
Death spiral . . . I just hope Rahm’s still there as the last drops circle down that particular toilet drain.
The mayor also plans to push a new garbage collection tax, a new per-ride fee on taxis and ride-hailing services such as Uber and a new tax on electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products... The property tax increase Emanuel is mulling would far exceed what the mayor himself said during the campaign was the largest property tax increase in Chicago history....adding, "because I won the election. Get over it."
