My wife knew all of the 19 killed from their visits to the PX. Since she had access to the compound we funneled all kinds of food and treats to the injured from friends in Aramco after they started letting employees back in.
Shattered windows in everything for hundreds of yards around - in fact, most of the windows in the Khobar Towers highrise buildings, regardless of how they were oriented to the explosion. A lot of foreign laborers lived in shanties built in the area. There were a lot of people killed besides the 19 US servicemen/women. The Saudis sat on that info.
Why now?
Why would the Saudis sit on knowledge of an Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist?
I hope he’s extradited....to saudi. Quickly. Or “chop chop” to use the vernacular.
As long as they know where he is, and he’s not directly threatening Saudi, save him for a suck up when they need us?
Hmmmmm. Death, or life without parole at hard labor? Do they have hard labor anymore? They should.
He could be a sacrificial lamb to the US from Iran.
Saudi Arabia has always had a significant Shiite minority, particularly in their Eastern Province.
Iran sponsors rebel groups there (like Saudi Hizbullah), and the Saudis sponsor rebel groups among the Arab population in Western Iran.
They Hate each other with a capital H.
An example of a Long Memory and a Long Arm of the Law approach by the US.
Thank God somebody in our government has the guts to pursue these bastards while Obama has lunch with them.
Active Duty/Retiree/Vet ping.
I remember when that happened. Most of the victims were members of the 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin. The Nomads were the elite fighting group during the war, scoring nearly every air to air victory.
I wondered if that was the reason they were singled out.
Arrest?
Why?
I suggest shoot on sight and call the garbage man.
Because they’re islamists.
I still believe these pigs had a principle hand in the 9/11 attacks. They should have been our first target in the so-called War On Terror.
Clintons were begged to move the perimeter a way back due to threats
Yes, they were.
The only thing between the fence and the buildings was a two-lane road. The truck stopped about 50’ from where I told my wife a car bomb would likely be placed.
Shameful.
This will make my sister happy. She (USAF) was in Saudi when this bombing occurred.
Here in the US, it would likely be life in prison - eligible for parole in 5 years.
Saudi - they’ll chop your head off at the drop of a hat (pardon the pun).
Thank your sister for her service. If she was in the Khobar/Dammam area there between ‘95-98, she likely knew my wife from the PX.
Perhaps as a sort of tit-for-tat in exchange for (the fanatically Shiite) Hezbollah showing more respect for Sunnis and Sunni interests? Mideast, intra-Arab, and intra-Muslim politics are so Byzantine that even Byzantines would say “Damn! They’re Byzantine!” Worth investigating, though hard to do, since for one thing, the US is weak in human intelligence assets with adequate language skills in hard languages such as Arabic. When I served, the weakness of Army-trained Russian specialists alarmed me, and Arabic is harder than Russian.
