This is true Levin has gone over this before...the 14th Amendment was directed to another purpose, not illegals who come here to have their babies.....if you are illegal you children born here are illegal also.....

The 14th amendment has been grossly misinterpreted. All it was ever meant to do was bestow citizenship on freed slaves and their children.

So why was the 14th Amendment not more explicit?

I’m hoping and praying Trump will serve to strengthen the Party and our other candidates, and that he will not run as independent candidate. Should Trump become the GOP nominee for POTUS, I will support him unconditionally despite some of my personal reservations about him.

All you have to do is what Eisenhower did in 1953.

Raided illegals and put pressure on them at every step and they will leave on their own as did 3,000,000 under Eisenhower.

The more I learn about Ike he may be the 2nd best President in the 20th Century and still played Golf all the time.

The doctrine of original intent must be considered with respect to the 14th Amendment. The Congressional debates with regard to this amendment indicates that it was intended to thwart legislation by the former Confederate states to deny civil rights to the recently freed slaves through excluding them from citizenship. The proponents argued that the amendment did not grant citizenship to the children of aliens, foreigners, or diplomats. Foreigners here illegally, or here legally but with the intention of returning to their native countries, fall under this category.

Notwithstanding the amendment, American Indians who lived subject to tribal governments were not considered citizens until 1924, when Congress passed legislation declaring them citizens even if they acknowledged some degree of allegiance to their native nation. Were the 14th Amendment considered to grant birthright citizenship to all born within the borders of the nation, this legislation would not have been necessary.

Years ago I read a piece on Ike that said he played golf during crisis moments as a way to talk with top advisers and to appear unconcerned. It was a tactic - and a sport he enjoyed.

My fear about Trump is that he would use the same methods as Obama has, e.g., executive orders, populous subversion of the constitution by signing unconstitutional bills into law, and increased regulation on issues that matter to him. I don’t want a progressive with different stripes as it will not solve our nation’s long-term political dysfunction. These are only fears, not facts.

If the kids aren’t citizens, then sending them home with the parents is fine.
Or you send the kids with the parents and give the kids the option to return after age 18.

Make Mexico and El Salvador take care of their own, instead of sending people here for us to support.

If the parents are illegals and NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the US then how could their dependent baby be?

The problem with this argument is that illegals ARE subject to the jurisdiction of the US. If an illegal commits a crime in the US, then US prosecutors (state or federal) may prosecute the illegal in US courts (again, state or federal), and the illegal may be convicted of the crime and sentenced to imprisonment in (state or federal) prison.

By contrast, people NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the US include people like ambassadors and diplomats--people with diplomatic immunity. If a diplomat commits a crime, then the diplomat is NOT subject to prosecution, because the diplomat is NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, including courts therein.

Your exactly right!

If I robbed a bank of $5 million dollars and was caught,,my child wouldn’t get to keep the $5 mil AND our family would be separated because I’d be sent to prison.

The children are put in the middle by the PARENTS,,NOT by the US gov,,as the libs have been presenting.
