This entire Cecil thing boggles the mind.

I love animals and would never, ever hurt one but the publicity regarding this is astonishing.

What’s next, a “Lions’ Lives Matter” riot?

It’s really pretty simple. The vast majority of people really really don’t want people to shoot lions for kicks. It’s no deeper than that.

They used to have someone to speak up for them but the spokecritters got eaten. At least that is what the spokeslion for the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Claws and Paws) said. Don’t know if I believe him or he’s just lion.

If you had lions running amok in the street that could get very interesting. If they were also burning cars and looting stores that would be even more interesting.

I have known several dentists and not one of them has the extra income to make hunting trips to Africa that cost several hundred thousand dollars as well as have a million dollar vaca home in Florida and no telling what else.

Is this guy a magical dentist or what?

You're right, of course. It's just such a weird thing to do that most people are having trouble feeling any empathy. Presumably, it has something to do with an effort to appear more manly. We're not all doing a good job of teaching young folks what it really means to be a man, I guess.

On the other hand, the consequences for this guy have been pretty extreme. I'm sure he regrets having trashed his entire life because of this bizarre need that he felt. I've thought that he should come forward so that people can see that while he may be flawed, he is still human and not some kind of monster. Eventually, he'll have to come out of the bunker and I think some folks are going to be surprised by what he says about all this. He's probably learned a lot.

It’s the internet giving people the power to do something about things they are strongly against. They want to crush this guy to set an example to others who want to go smoke a lion just because they can. It will give pause.

The right makes the point about lack of outrage in comparison to the PP videos on the Radio and Internet but does very little about it on the street.

Lion killer? Peter Hathaway Capstick relished that term.

I have a signed copy of “Death In The Long Grass”

My uncle builds big game rifles and knew him.

All over a dumbass lion. I wonder why they didn’t vandalize the PP butchers’ president’s home. Ripping human beings from the womb, chopping them up while still alive and selling the meat is a hell of a lot more disgusting than shooting a dumbass lion.

Shouldn’t a hunter have the right to choose?

Someone tell me how many Planned Parenthood clinics have been trashed in the wake of the videos showing the sale of body parts?

Didn’t think so. So who’s the intolerant violent bigots?

These are people who find joy in making others, whose beliefs oppose it, pay for abortions.

Disagreement is one thing, but they will not rest until they inflict every bit of the meanness in their souls on you.

What?

big game hunting has been very common, among those who could afford it, throughout human history.

Man is a hunter by nature.

it's only in the post-modern era that mankind has been so divorced from his true nature that people can't understand it, and have the ennui and free time to generate sufficient outrage.

If these libs get this worked up over an old cat (who had spent the last 13 years killing cute little Bambis for lunch), can you imagine what would happen if we took the EBT cards away from these people?

I'm pretty sure the people worked up over Cecil are more likely to have trust funds than EBT cards. Poor people don't care about dead African lions. Hell, Africans don't care about dead African lions. Cecil's demise is a First World problem.

Great book. I never understood "maneaters" where big cats were concerned till I read his book. They develop a taste for humans, humans run more slowly than game animals, etc.

These idiot bambi lovers need to read that book. That's the reality of big cats in Africa. They think the natives snuggle up and cuddle the cats.
