Which Trump do you like? Take your pick: the one who was a Democrat, the one who was an Independent, or the one now pounding away like he’s a true blue Republican?

Someone with that record used to be called an opportunist or wishy-washy-anything but a serious statesman.

"When the debates start, the only true conservative, Ted Cruz, will shine for all to see.

Ted is correct in keeping himself above the fray. He can keep preaching his message and soon he will be seen as the adult in the room. Actually very Reaganesque of him.

Remember how small and ineffective Carter seemed when he stood on the stage with Reagan? Cruz will come off the same way With his intellect and speaking ability he will make everyone, including Trump, seem tawdry and small."

From your mouth to God's ear.

Well, let's see.. it's Thursday.. so it's "true blue" day! But in the end, Trump's decisions will be based on what directly benefits him the most. All else is an afterthought.

The trouble is, while I have no sympathy for Trump's candidacy, I have plenty of sympathy for those who want a third party alternative.

I WISH there could be a viable 3rd party - heck I wish their was a whole basket of political party's that, even if they couldn't win, could partner with other party's and build coalition governments. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF SYSTEM. I wish we did, I don't really like our winner take all, no coalitions possible election system - but you, me and everyone else that yammers on about 3rd party's every election cycle need to commune with the founding fathers about that. Our system is designed for 2 party's. On the super rare occasion one of them implodes, the replacement party just becomes the 2nd leg of the two party system. In our system you will virtually ALWAYS be voting for the lesser of two evils in general elections. Very rarely will you ever be voting for candidates you genuinely like. That is the nature of the type of electoral system we have.

Are you for kicking him out of the debate?

I don't care what the GOP does. They have been dead to me for a long time.

Trump's only value is kicking around RINOs. But I fully expect that from a self-described Democrat.

“Plus, another historical note. Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Third Party, which actually outpolled the Republican Party in 1912, lost to Wilson==but the mere threat of a revival by Hiram Johnson or William Borah was the whip that kept Henry Cabot Lodge from cutting off the debate that the irreconcilables finally won to defeat Wilson’s League of Nations; leading to the overwhelming landslide of 1920.”

Well, there would not have been a second Wilson term (and thus no Wilsonian League of Nations) had Progressive Senator Hiram Johnson of California not sat on his hands and refused to campaign for Charles Evans Hughes in 1916 (Hughes would have been elected president had he received California’s 13 electoral votes, but he lost the state by a mere 3,773 votes, or 0.38% of the state’s vote).

In any event, by 1912 Teddy Roosevelt was as liberal as Wilson or Socialist Eugene Debs on many issues, and it was by abandoning the Progressive Party’s policies that the GOP started winning landslides and governing like conservatives under Harding and Coolidge.

Well, I only had to wait a few hours. New poll by PPP. Trump in lead. What was that you were saying again, something about his unfavorability?

Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion
of Donald Trump?
Favorable........................................................ 48%
Unfavorable .................................................... 39%
Not sure .......................................................... 13%

She will win anyway if any of these clowns are the nominee. I will not - repeat NOT vote for Bush, Rubio, etc. They would just be Clinton lite anyway.

Neither you or anyone else can make me vote for someone I don’t want. Those who fought and died for our right to vote, also fought and died for my right to NOT vote, if I choose not to. Anyone who votes for the likes of Bush, Rubio, Christie, etc. are the fools - not me.

Yep, I’m not going to vote for those who support illegal immigration. Period - end of story.

Great. We’ll see how it holds up in other surveys.

Meanwhile, he needs to work on that double-digit deficit vs. Hillary (50-37/PPP).

Donald could just debate himself, since he changes his mind daily —

Are you Democrat, Republican or independent?
Are you for or against universal health care?
Are you for against amnesty?
Are you for or against using cheap foreign labor for your products?
Are you for or against abortion?
And on and on and on....

And..

Are you for against the Kelo decision?
Are you still, as you were on June 27, in favor of illegals remaining in the U.S. if they “work hard?”

He attributes his rise to being frank with voters.

Honestly, his rise is due to saying what the voters want to hear, not what he has a record of believing or supporting.

Don’t be such a Debbie Downer. 13 points is doable in a year and a half. The other Republicans are losing to her now as well.

I don’t see what the big deal is. No candidate should take what is in effect a battered wife pledge to stick around and support the gop regardless of how bad they’re treated or how godawful a candidate they nominate.

I sure hope that strict Constitutional Conservative joins the race soon. It is not Trump. Even the ones I could pull the lever for have warts (out of the current 16).
