What have you been smoking? There is no system in place to cross check or verify this type of data. You must have forgotten that you are talking about a government program whose software is probably long ago out of date for many types of activities.
That is why our emergency rooms here in northern NJ (and as I understand, many in southern CA) are closing; nothing is really “free”, and the working people who were paying for everybody are evacuating. Soon the only “healthcare” in these areas will be an Aztec shaman...providing for the Aztec residents.

No, they are people like me who refuse to follow government mandated laws. I have my health savings account but I should have also signed up on an exchange, which I didn’t. No one has said anything and I paid my tax. We’ll see what happens next April.

They must be really stupid though to pay the penalty. There are so many exemptions that you can find or create one. Just don’t pay a utility bill until you get a shut off notice and bam! Exemption.
I'm glad there are some of you. My accountant, business partners all put the fear of God into me about it - don't want to be a target you know. Its how they screw the middle-class sheep like me.
Poor person goes to the ER with a runny nose and a slight fever. Doc sees person, runs a test or not, gives them 2 prescriptions - one real medicine - and something for 'pain'. (Turns out hospitals are now being graded by patients - and hospitals that give out pain medicine are graded MUCH higher... very bad incentive pattern building... )
Poor person or illegal leaves happy.
They will never pay the bill... the bill for 5 minutes spent with the doctor is $8,000.
(A real doctor's visit would have been around a hundred...The eight thousand's a wink and a nod.)

Because the hospital gets to write off the $8,000 on their taxes. Everyone's in on the scam except the taxpayers...

Yes, my town’s hospital closed when illegals overran us...
I don't think someone would want to go that route if they have a good credit score. It might end up costing them more than the penalty if they need to take out a loan, buy auto insurance and etc.
I'm sorry to hear that... hospitals are important to small towns.
This is more fallout from liberal elites showing us how much compassion they have for Mexican illegals... while we lose our hospitals, schools, and tax base. On the lighter brighter side, liberal elites get cheap labor and grateful gardeners and maids..
Thanks; we’re not a small town (40K nestled between Newark & Jersey City NJ), but it was nice while it lasted. It still functions as some kind of medical facility, but you’ve got to go into a more urban area now for emergency services (and those ERs are overrun as well).
We aren’t losing our schools; the illegals are shipped here to keep them occupied (we’d lose them without the illegals - there are few American children). So we get a bunch of imported kids from people who contribute nothing...
