You do NOT dump on someone who spent years in a POW camp as being a failure because he was shot down behind enemy lines! It is disgusting behavior!

You do if he is accused by fellow military of collaboration with the enemy while in their custody. You do if he is an insane, cowardly traitor. Then, yes, you definitely question his service.

The collaboration thing is horseshit. I loathe McCain for what he did AFTER Vietnam. But I also remember watching TV as the POWs came home, and seeing the tears flow down my Mom’s cheeks as she recognized old friends who finally came home...while knowing her husband died in Vietnam.

Attack McCain’s politics? GREAT! I despise the man. But only a chickenshit asshole attacks him for having been a POW!

He is on tape while in the Hanoi Hilton calling for Americans to get out of Vietnam. He absolutely capitulated with the enemy.

Yes, his statements from 15 years ago. What fools.

Right 15 years ago! Not quite. If we can't forgive the statements of other candidates, why are we willing to automatically forgive his?

... watch the video where Trump makes the statements.. Luntz kept badgering and interrupting him with “but McCain is a war hero but McCain is a war hero he spent 5 years as a POW he’s a war hero”... Trump had had enough.. thank you Trump for finally somebody to have had the guts to put McCain in his place...

Exactly. Luntz drew first blood. All Trump wanted to do was answer the question and Luntz kept pushing the war hero line. If McCain and the media wants to keep pushing, Trump will push back on Monday and give McCain and the media a war like they won't believe! This is just going to give Trump something else to talk about on Monday. This is the beginning of the end for McCain.

I dunno. Why did we forgive Reagan for first being pro-choice?

It was a serious question. What did he say? I don’t know anything about this. Do you have a link?

I hate McCain. What has McCain done for this country since Nan? Nada! Then McCain calls me crazy. McCain is the Anti-Trump.

I remember recently hearing a former KGB spy on the radio...he said the Soviets were really afraid of Reagan because they thought he might actually drop the bomb. No such fear with that miscreant we have in there now.

So yes, diplomacy is good to a point. I do agree...would have been better if he hadn’t said it like this although McCain sure doesn’t seem to have any problem calling his right wing opponents names...and no one particularly cares. I will never forgive him for not defending Sarah, and for his “you have nothing to fear from a President Obama”. I still think there is something funny about his POW days....in the Senate he’s been too willing to accommodate those he supposedly opposes.

A different response ....

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called McCain an American war hero, but sidestepped when asked
whether he would condemn the remarks.

“I recognize that folks in the press love to see Republican on Republican violence,”
Cruz said. “You want me to say something bad about Donald Trump or bad about John
McCain or bad about anyone else and I’m not going to do it.”

I have mentioned in previous posts that I have a problem with that aspect of Reagan. There is no candidate who is going to be perfect. Reagan seems to be the Gold Standard of Presidents around here and I agree. Nobody is in total lockstep with my political philosophy, but Trump is so far out that there is no way I could consider him.

That may well be, but the words that Trump chose, "I like people who weren’t captured" must have smarted to a lot of other people besides McCain. For that I find fault with his judgement in what he said...

Reagan knew how to use the art of the stinging remark like no one else.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/february2008/020708_never_tortured.htm

A former Vietnam veteran with top secret clearance says he has personally spoken to numerous POW’s who dispute John McCain’s claim that he refused to provide information after he was captured and tortured in Hanoi, saying that in fact McCain’s code-name was “Songbird” because of his willingness to tell all to avoid torture.

Jack McLamb served nine years in secret operations in Cambodia and other nations before going on to become one of the most highly decorated police officer’s in Phoenix history, winning police officer of the year twice before taking a role as a hostage negotiator for the FBI.

“I know a lot of Vietnam veterans and a few POW’s and all the POW’s that I’ve talked to over the years say that John McCain is a lying skunk,” McLamb told the Alex Jones Show.

Lerner serves at the pleasure of the President. She is not civil service. When his term is up, her appointment expires, tho he is free at any moment to remove her. He hasn’t.
