How often is this possible? Maybe for the public school systems, like the U of California, but for the ‘privates’, the board consists of people who either donate a LOT of money and have a high profile position (e.g. CEOs) or who have a very public persona that the university thinks it can use to suck in donations. Everyone else, to a large extent, serve at the pleasure of the board.
