Scott Walker is head and shoulders above everyone else.
SCOTT WALKER retreats from FLORIDA Primary to help-out Jeb Bush ...
I really like that graphic!
Anyone who has read the reports from the ground and fails to put Cruz in the top 3 in IA is wrong. To think that Carson is beating Cruz in Ia is a joke.
Interesting speculation on Scott Walker..But I’ll take you one further: they’re all bought and paid for. Every. Single. One. If the candidate isn’t comsidered comtrollable or doesn’t otherwise pass uniparty muster, they’re not going to be on the ballot.
This is caesar’s game played by caesar’s rules.
“Anyone who has read the reports from the ground and fails to put Cruz in the top 3 in IA is wrong. To think that Carson is beating Cruz in Ia is a joke.”
Looks to me like Ted Cruz isn’t even in the top 5. Sure, polls can be skewed. But every one? It’s also interesting to note that the more recent of these polls show Ted Cruz dropping into the mid single digits.
Can anyone guess why that would happen?
The average of five polls in message three shows Jeb Bush with a 1.8 point lead over Walker, 2.6 over Rubio, 5.6 over Huck and Carson, 6.8 over Cruz, with the rest of the field over 3 points behind Cruz. I didn't list Ron Paul, because Ron Paul is a Democrat in all but name.
Most data says that most voters make up their minds between September 20 and Election Day (in this case, September 2016, not THIS September).
That being the case, why do you all think this stuff matters?
The reason Walker edges Cruz in my own mind is his proven ability to win, as a conservative, in a blue state three times in four years. They've hit him with practically everything sans a nuclear bomb.he's not only still standing but very strong in the field.
He's whipped Wisconsin's budget into shape.
He's taken a tough stand on legal immigration, not just illegal. In doing so, he demonstrates thoughtfulness as a candidate - not just a blind pom pom-waving cheerleader for "free trade" but a balanced and nuanced stance that shows respect for business and the American worker alike. That will play extremely well in the rust belt states, and they've been a challenge for Rs of late... Building a new coalition of Walker democrats will, I believe, prove pivotal.
He's steadfast on social issues.
Would love to see a Walker/Cruz ticket, but Scott needs to head up the top of that ticket. I have a really good feeling about our chances if Walker is the guy...
Thanks for the interesting feedback. I’m currently planning to vote for NOBODY as I think all of them are bought and sold, but trying to keep an open mind. Walker is indeed battle tested. I admire his work in Wisconsin, which is about as tough of a state as you can find for a conservative to make progress.
Cruz on the other hand is just another corporatist with a great conservative schtick. Ron Paul, Jr. might be a better choice from a strategic point of view. Not a fan of junior, but to give the blind squirrel his due, he’s been getting a lot of acorns of late.
LOL...many polls, like Fox, don’t even mention his name. So, those are bogus.
Are you going to tell me with a straight face that Carson and Huck are ahead of him in IA? Cruz has more money, better organization, etc. Funny, but these polls mirror the national average which has Cruz at 5-6%.
If you base it on these polls, though, Cruz is gaining recently. However, as some have pointed out, it is too early.
Finally, if you think it is his support of TPA that brings him down, I guess the same will happen when Carson and Walker address their positions on the issues too, huh?
Naaah. TPA itself won’t bring Cruz down, although it was enough for me. The thing that will bring Ted Cruz down is the instinctive rallying for the globalist agenda that caused him to support TPA in the first place. In the harsh light of day, the question will be what separates him from Jeb! or Rubio or the rest of the globalist cheerleading squadron? Given that the answer is “not a whole lot” then it becomes a name recognition game.
Cruz doesn’t have the positive name recognition outside of hardcore conservative circles. The LSM isn’t going to hand it to him, and he’s going to have a hard time if he constantly has to buy it. So the advantage shifts to the candidates the LSM favors.
I disagree...Cruz has a lot of name recognition...that is why the LSM won’t mention his name. Whomever they fear, they bash or ignore in polling. Cruz has faced both.
As for how he compares to Jeb, Rubio, etc, you are kidding right? You are focused on your own fears and agenda while ignoring his whole body of work.
I guess you support Walker? BTW, can you tell me honestly, that you think Carson is beating Cruz?
“He’s taken a tough stand on legal immigration, not just illegal”
I didn’t know that being for a ‘pathway to citizenship’ is taking a tough stand. That was Walker’s stand after he was against it, then before he was against it again before announcing this presidential run.
Your thinking would then make Bush and Rubio ‘tough’ on illegal immigration as well.
Most people outside the conservative webosphere couldn’t pick Ted Cruz out of a lineup.
I don’t plan to vote. That could change but probably not. For as many candidates as there are, its amazing that so many are a disappointment. I do find Scott Walker intriguing although I suspect he’s the ohe candidate this cycle who the media wanted to build up so they could tear down. How he handles that will determine if he has a future.
Of course my own agenda determines who I pick or if I pick anyone. Everyone has an agenda. Myself included.
Cruz's proposed 5X increase in H1Bs might hurt skilled American workers and their families. He'd make a standout VP choice though.
Yes, Rand has some positive points, and we would be foolish to dismiss him out-of-hand as some Freepers are wont to do, for exactly the strategic reason you state.
Overall, I like Walker best. Walker/Cruz '16
Every candidate is flawed, Walker included (your point about immigration), Cruz included (increasing H1B cap fivefold). Walker’s battle-tested and so far hasn’t shown evidence of foot-in-mouth disease. He doesn’t seem to take the media’s bait and I suspect he might be our best chance.
