Ok, cool. I’ll watch later (and FF over the ads).
I hate to be a downer but unless they take some artistic leave Simcoe has a different fate ahead of him.
Read only is you want a plot spoiler: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Graves_Simcoe
I remember seeing that one...miniseries, wasn’t it?
It was okay.
The TV character needs to be roasted alive or something...
Actors do, sometimes. Recently I saw an interview with Heather Lind; her voice is much less throaty than Anna's, and she's very Valley-Girlish. It was a bit jarring. And then there's Norman Reedus, who sounds like a typical California yo-dude, with none of the deep gravel his WD character speaks with.
So I was wondering if Roukin's real-life voice is really so high-pitched.
"Hes probably one of the best villains I can remember."
He is, indeed. My husband hasn't been watching the show with me, but he's going to start (we just ordered Season 1). He happened to be walking through the room as I was watching the scene in which Simcoe, taking over the Queen's Rangers, challenged that guy to kill him. My husband was snared.
Yes.
It was excellent. Bostwick was superb and much closer in appearnace and age than is usually ever portrayed. It was also quite ccurate in portrayal of the actual conditions of the armies. No pretty-boy uniforms for them.
They finally released this show on DVD and my husband bought it for me last year. My parents had the official VHS for some time, but before that we relied on our old self-recorded VHS from the broadcast.
Thanks for the info. I hadn’t thought of it in that way.
Yes, when Simcoe took over the Queens Rangers, he was asserting himself as a real bad azz. That whole scene was “just plain mean”. LOL
“Fall in”.

Thanks afraidfortherepublic.
.
I watched a few episodes. It wasn’t nearly as enthralling as I expected it to be.
1. Locate show you always wanted to watch but didn't.
2. Search the web -- usually ebay.
3. Buy all the seasons of the show for a really good price (counterfeits from Hong Kong, which steals everything without paying royalties is cheapest, but quality suffers and you feel a little guilty screwing the show's owners).
4. Receive in mail.
5. Stock-up on favorite beverage (beer for action shows; bourbon for more cerebral stuff. Also have sufficient alcohol absorbers (chips, pretzels, anything with peanut butter, anything chicken).
6. Select most comfortable seat (if you can move cats, small dogs, etc.)
7. Darkness a must (lights low, window shades drawn).
8. Phone to "message only."
9. Car hidden (no one's home).
10. Clean dvd laser with cleaner disk.
11. Stop thinking.
12. Start binge watching (warning: "Stargate SG-1" has 213 episodes; "Walking Dead" has only 53 through 2014)
13. Lose 1 1/2% of brain cells for each 12-hour binge but don't care.
Been watching it from the beginning. My 5th great-grandfather is a Patriot who was living in Newtown, L.I. at the time, and there are Tories mixed in with my family as well.
I'll give it a thumbs up. I like David Bradley who plays Nazi camp survivor Abraham Setrakian. Looking forward to Season 2 starting.
I like him too.
The show’s great; it doesn’t show vampires as lovable sex symbols. Although the “Eph” character can be a bit of a tool at times.
It’s very good TV.
