Yes folks . . . Leftists in other countries are for sovereignty (and the death penalty, and law and order, and gun ownership, and the military, and patriotism). It's only our Left that is against all those things.
Diana was chosen for him....an arranged marriage. It was doomed from the start.
I knew his childhood wasn’t all that great but I had no idea there was no real affection coming from the parents. It really is sad.
Charles is not going to be bypassed. It would be almost impossible to do it because the Queen is not just the Queen of the UK, but also of about a dozen other countries. Each of which would have to independently agree to change the line of succession to their thrones. And that just aint happening.
I am not a fan of Camilla but thanks for giving the other side of the story a fair hearing.
It’s true that Charles will not be skipped, but it’s also true that succession can be changed, as just happened with the Succession to the Crown Bill 2013. That said, there are a lot of topics where people propose possibilities without understanding the complexities or realities involved.
I think the ‘skipping Charles’ talk was years ago with the rumor that he had converted to Islam. Camilla has seemed to have a calming effect on him too.
.
Diana was abandoned by her mother at a young age, therefore both she and Charles came from dysfunctional homes. Neither were able to meet the needs of the other in their marriage, and it wasn't about sex.
Charles inadvertently exposed the emptiness in his life when asked if he was in love with Diana. His reply was, "Yes, ... whatever love means." - A person can't give emotionally what they have never received themselves.

Thank you for the great post.
I didn’t know any of this.
All very good points. Charles DID receive some affection in his youth. He idolised his great-uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten. Mountbatten’s assassination in 1979 was the most crushing blow of Charles’s life. You’ll notice that the name Louis pops up a lot in the names of Charles’s descendants (his son, Prince William, is William Arthur Philip Louis; his grandson, little Prince George is George Alexander Louis.)
It makes you wonder if Charles would have made the same life choices had his mentor and hero still been alive to advise him.
It is often speculated that when Charles ascends the throne that the name of the royal house will be changed from Windsor to Mountbatten-Windsor. The memory and legacy of Louis Mountbatten is still strong with Charles.
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
