They think the East Anglia University email dump never happened. We are supposed to ignore all those smoking gun emails that proved collusion between climate “scientist” and left wing government employees. Yep, everyone close your eyes and ignore the proof that man-made global warming is a gigantic hoax.

He could bring back indulgences, or carbon credits...
How about bitcoms? I’m from the old school though. I like gold candle sticks.

charitable donations

Giving money to the poor increases their energy consumption, pollution, and LeBron James designer shoe clad carbon footprints. To help save the Earth give your donations instead to successful rich people. They will likely invest it wisely making their industries more energy efficient, thereby underpricing their competitors and saving the environment.

"Mistranslated."

Well, ya gotta admit that's a hot possibility. The NYT and others are already telling us what's in an encyclical that will not even be published until late June or early July (2 months from now) --- and you can expect a multiplication of this kind of drum-beating, tendentious "pre-coverage coverage".

No matter what the Pope says, it'll rarely break through all the elaborately constructed "framing."

My #1 prediction: he makes a big case for natural sex/gender and natural marriage and robustly procreative families as part of a wider respect for God's creation.

My #2 prediction: Nobody in the EneMedia will make the salient point that the Pope has no authority to make magisterial statements about the physical sciences. It's outside of his competence.

My #3 prediction: you won't be able to separate "what he said" from "what they said he said" unless you read the whole thing in Latin or Italian (or whatever language he's writing it in) and do your own translation.

Frankly, by the time it gets into English, I won't trust the page numbers unless I count them myself.

Remember, folks, you read it here first at Free Republic!

“The money people put in the basket on Sunday doesn’t go to Rome.”

You are right.

However, turn out on Sunday mass in America translates to richer or learner collection baskets — If someone is just going to church to polish the pew with their a$$ that is one thing, if you are going to church and the message conflicts with your morals and values and feel the church is being “bought out” then there are other churches (not catholic) that don’t feel the need to get involved with something that they have no business being involved in.

The Catholic church “used” to preach that sanctity of life was more precious than “social justice,” until the government started threatening to take away the tax exempt status — Suddenly sanctity of life gives way to politicians that are pro infanticide and pro social justice — No conflict there. I will not step foot in a church where a priest feels that mentioning abortion is murder is objectionable, period.

So message does effect the bottom line and at the end of the day, the church needs money to operate. If the church starts to try and shame people into believing “false prophets” then they can enjoy “no profits,” and that does start to have an impact on the message coming out of Rome.

I told people from the pulpit:

Some people insist that “no priest is going to tell me how to vote.” If by that you mean that a priest has no right to tell you to vote for his brother-in-law, you are right. If you mean that no priest can tell you that you can sin by casting certain votes, then it’s nonsense.

If you vote for politicians who promise to take someone else’s money and give it to you, you are a thief.

If you vote for politicians who promise to allow some people to kill other people—as in abortion—then you are a murderer.

Not sure you read my post #26 or if you did may have misunderstood it. You just said the same thing I did in my post.

Then again, that may have been your intent.
