You have to understand the philosophy. They start with an oil filter and then build an entire car around it. ;-)
“I’ll take my heated seats and steering wheel, my 400+hp, 13 second time slips, my 23+ mpg, and all of the other features, thank you very much.
But I don’t want the damn gubbment restricting my freedoms any more than they do today by not allowing me to work on my car or modify it. Its mine, damn it! I paid for it!”
Not stupid at all. Two of my three Corvette’s are “computer cars.” Spent a lot of time messing with programming for one of them, and they are reliable, fun to drive, and you can make a lot of horsepower if you know what you’re doing. Still, I enjoy my 1963 Stingray Split Window Coupe that I’ve owned since it was 11 months old too, and I don’t have to worry about getting it smogged every two years. I was simply stating the obvious. Also, I guess you want to overlook the first-generation cars with “computer-controlled carburetors” that were big pains in the A$$, and the one’s you couldn’t move unless you “buckled up.”
They have integrated custom music systems. Playing nothing but country?
John Deere wants to be able to file copyright claims against the way you uise your tractor
Snip: Lest you think its just the agriculturally-employed who need to worry, its not. GM is right there with John Deere explaining to the Copyright Office that drivers might own the frames and windows and trunks of their cars, but that because everything under the hood and in the dash is driven by a computer chip, General Motors retains a claim on every car they sell. If you decide to go get some aftermarket mods done on your Chevy, you might be a software pirate.
Oh that’s cute, they want to include custom capabilities on their tractors that are only software features.
“Compatibility” hacks are generally not prohibitable.
Should pass quickly. The essence of crony capitalism.
That’s simply entertainment. I doubt Deere cares about that.
This Deere video illustrates better what I meant.
