“We on the Right have too often underestimated our enemy and have thereby lost many important battles. We need to learn how to counter their arguments effectively if we are to win more battles and ultimately the war. “

That is absolutely the truth.

When you boil it down to its essence, environutsies are basically people who consider their precious sensibilities vastly more important than those of other people.

So in this case their preference for a running stream trumps the preference of millions for a beautiful mountain lake that provides drinking water and recreation.

It’s really as simple as that, but they manage to couch it in semi religious, unselfish tone by saying that they’re doing it for “mother earth”, when in fact they are being more selfish than a spoiled teenager.

“If they could drain Hetch Hetchy and only hit the slums like Novato or East Oakland the libs would but they are all on the same water pipe.”

Novato is a slum? News to me.

Oakland is not “on the same water pipe” as San Francisco.

San Francisco gets its water from Hetch Hetchy which feeds the Tuolumne river.

Oakland is part of the East Bay Municipal Utility District which gets its water from the Mokolumne River.

There are plenty of people in San Francisco who want the Shaughnessy Dam removed and Hetch Hetchy to be restored. They are insane.

“What do we need Hetch Hetchy for? I get my water from the faucet”

This reminds me of a trip to Czech Republic a few years ago. There is a nuclear power plant right on the border with Austria. At the time a bunch of morons were protesting the nuclear power plant which provides power to parts of Austria (It’s a NIMBY issue where they have no problem buying nuke power from CR and feel warm and fuzzy with their windmills).

One idiot burgermeister actually said (paraphrasing) “We don’t need nuclear power. I get my electricity from the wall sockets.”

Reminds me of another fool (I forget who) said she conserves electricity by watching TV by candle light.

That pretty much sums up the liberal mindset.

117-billion-gallon reservoir...
This is less then the 800 billion gallons they are flushing into the ocean for some minnows every year. The photo gives some idea on how stupid a judge and the politicians are.

There was a "Family Circus" cartoon once where the daughter, Dolly, watches her father get money from an ATM and then asks him why he has to go to work when he can just get money from the ATM.

The Red Army when it got to Germany took everything they could back to Russia. Supposedly some of the soldiers tore faucets out of homes and took them back to Russia and stuck them on the wall of their home, and were mystified when no water came out.

San Franciscans don't need water for drinking--they can just buy more Perrier. But they do need some for showers and to water their plants.

I went backpacking once in Pate Valley which is upstream from the Hetch Hetchy reservoir. It is a bit difficult to get to because you have to hike down several thousand feet from White Wolf campground, then hike back up to leave. It was a popular place for backpackers and for bears, but not overrun like the easily accessible parts of Yosemite NP. But that was more than 30 years ago that I was there.

There is a road that leads to the dam, so if the dam was removed it might be easy for hikers to reach the Hetch Hetchy valley.

Hey, he's right! I do too. What do we need all these windmills for, anyhow?

I also don't hunt anymore, I just get my meat from those little styrofoam trays so no animals have to die...
