How do you know he did not ask upon encounter? And was snubbed in a violent rage?

Also the father has to know that his fatherhood is a mere stewardship and has to be exercised in the fashion that his Master in heaven specifies or it is sin. He cannot be wallowing in the original sin of believing that good and evil are all his to manage.

Is the perv going to sue or appeal, or both?

Also the father does not need to perform an audit of his enemy’s soul to forgive. Forgiving really means turning it over to God’s prescribed means, which in such a case is not to exercise one’s own vengeance but make room for the wrath of God.

He might, he might not. If he forgives the father he will be showing himself a better man, believe it or not.

Why do you use the words “dance in their hearts” in describing Satan?

And who are you talking about? Why have you judged even one person, let alone more than one?

I can confidently affirm the bible. Satan dances in everybody’s heart, from the original sin. It is a fault that is endemic to all.

The trick is to kick him out without resorting to his tricks, which just welcomes more of him in.

I have seen in my own life how it means embracing things that I never wanted to embrace, because the hate felt so good. But once the hate was gone, then heaven had a deeper foothold in me.

Why do you judge the man’s family also?

The bible judges them; I don’t.

If what you really mean is why bring the topic up, it’s because the healing of the molested son was brought up.

What the father did will not bring the son any closer to healing, nor will affirmation of it by the son bring the son any closer to healing.

God is quite clear not to fear those who “can kill the body but after that do no more” but “Him who can destroy both body and soul in hell.”

Hell is a simple consequence of choosing a certain way to live, which all mankind has already chosen in the original sin. We already became God’s enemies. Jesus is a second chance.

Yes. If the molester is truly repentant, he can be forgiven.

As can dad, if he feels sorry.

But he'd have to be a better man than I am.

I'd exact justice on the perv myself. In the same way.

I might ask for forgiveness. But my first impulse is to protect my boy from harm.

And yes, I'll answer to my Maker for doing that.

“He’s going to learn in the next 25 years why I let him live,” the father said.”

How sweet is that...and perfect for the journalists to hear!

I was interested when this first happened and they aired what the father said to police when he called them to pick this guy up.

From all the replies thus far, you’re the only who’s made mention of any issues/problems. I’m sorry to hear this but maybe it’s time to do away your “floppy disk” system.

Just sayin....

Re: “How do you know he did not ask upon encounter? And was snubbed in a violent rage?”

Come on. Are you serious? Just how sincere do you think the molester’s request for forgiveness, if it happened, would be right at the point he is caught? Jesus asks us to be willing to forgive, not be saps who allow themselves to be violated and abused. This man was in the act of molesting his child!!! You would have to have a heart of stone to condemn this father.

Should the father have done what he did? Probably not, but if I were on that jury I would have a very difficult time condemning him. Especially when I read Jeusu’s own words about how serious God takes offenses committed against children:

“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”

It is not a violation of God’s law to protect and defend one’s family - especially the little ones and the helpless.

....”What the father did will not bring the son any closer to healing”....

Sure it will...just ask any kid who ‘didn’t’ have parents stop their abuse.

“And IF HE REPENTS you must forgive him.” Mr Jesus Christ.

This miscreant has neither asked for forgiveness nor has he shown any repentance. Therefore forgiveness is neither due nor should it be offered. Your understanding of this point is fundamentally flawed.

Re: “Forgiving really means turning it over to God’s prescribed means, which in such a case is not to exercise one’s own vengeance but make room for the wrath of God.”

There IS no forgiveness possible unless the molester asks. The only thing this father and the family can do is release their hurt and anger to God, not hold on to it and become bitter.

God DOES NOT forgive us unless we repent, confess and ask for His forgiveness through His Son. He doesn’t ask us to do something He isn’t willing to do.
