But, as I recall, he completely missed the basic cause that drove the fathers from black homes: The War on Poverty. The WOP paid black women to kick their man out of the household in order to collect bigger welfare checks. That was the goal. It worked. The blacks now vote 95% Dem to keep those welfare checks coming.

I hate to defend Lyndon Johnson, but getting women to kick their men out of the house was *NOT* the goal, it was an unintended side effect. The *GOAL* was to convince newly enfranchised black voters (the 24th amendment just passed, and the "War on Poverty" was Johnson's Brilliant response to it.) to vote Democrat.

Johnson was very racist and he simply didn't care that his policies would result in the destruction of Black families. He knew it would generate a massive return in votes for Democrats and it would play into the meme that "Democrats Care about the poor".

Johnson's "War on Poverty" (Basically a vote bribing scheme) was a huge windfall for the Democrats and has helped to keep them in power for the last fifty years.

It is also a major cause of Federal insolvency (21 trillion I believe is the number spent on this "war" so far.) and a strong contributing factor to crime and poverty in this nation.

It's destroying the nation, but it's sure been good for getting Democrats elected.

OK. You are right.

But it would take a Nobel Prize Winning Economist to predict that disastrous "side effect". The War On Poverty not only destroyed the vast majority of black families but even the idea of the black family. Many good black Americans have escaped that evil Democrat plan but most haven't. Sad to say.

Long ago I told my sons that to be successful, you had to do things in their proper order:

1) Get your education

2) Establish your career

3) Get married

4) Establish a home

5) Have kids

Keep to that plan and you will be successful, and so will your kids. Get them out of order and you are screwed. That was Moynihan's point.

Remember this: the goal of the Statists is to crush, grind, churn, stomp, and scream everything and everyone constantly to the left.

And after they have destroyed the existing social order, they will usher in the era of "New Soviet Man." Of course, they don't care that "New Soviet Man" wound up being a drunken wife beater who didn't give a damn about his job or anything else because he was expected to be a soulless piece of meat to be disposed of as the state saw fit.

Maybe that's what they want for us after all.
