He's got to be a Sunni as He has shown strong and overt sympathies with His buds, the Muslim Brotherhood, and His lineage is Sunni through His father.
However, He is not above giving the Shiites a helping hand whenever they need one against the USA and the West. After all, they worship the same Allah despite their apocalyptic theological differences.
For His Majesty, it's "any port in a storm" as long as it is a Muslim port.

Shia Islam tends to be left-wing politically. Sunni tends to be right-wing. By whose standards? This statement is nonsensical.

Sunni’s view Shia as apostates - no different than Christians and Jews - And believe they deserve the death penalty.
He wouldn’t give them a helping hand unless he was one of them - practicing Taqiyya.
