Nothing wrong with moving into a media gig, but if she's going to go that route she should be 'honest' about it ( ala Rush) and stop detracting from serious potential conservative candidates.
I would have thought their examples would be named Dole, McCain and Romney.
Palin is clearly an intellectual lightweight - but so is the current occupier of the White House
I’d take Cain or Carson over anyone in the Democratic party in the past decade. They are business and medical powerhouses..smart and highly communicative. More political seasoning is the only downside for either. I don’t know how a supposed libertarian thinker like Gillespie dismisses anyone without a Washington pedigree. Where is his bash articles of Kerry, Dean or that doofus Biden? He’s a fraud, in my opinion after reading this piece.
Folks are still reading Sarah Palin wrong.
She is advocating the taking back of America, a set of ideals seemingly lost in dilution and bastardization. That requires being in the public eye, and energizing the troops. Does she do what she does only for attention, or does she have a serious underlying message?
Governor Palin is out there busting trail through the snowdrifts, for those who will follow and set up permanent waystations later. But first, we must find the path back to where we once were, and after we establish the markers, we have to ensure they stay up and act as a beacon for others.
A huge part of the knock on Sarah Palin is due to her accent. Coming from a part of the country where people assume we are stupid because of how we sound, it’s ironic that I have to catch myself on this with Palin. She sounds like someone out of the movie Fargo. The test of this is to read her, as opposed to listening to her. It’s one of the reasons why the leftwing stories about her alleged stupidity always seem to fall flat. They report on what she said that was supposedly so stupid, we read it, and are left wondering what was so stupid. The other reason is that she is by no means stupid.
..... Republicans Just Can’t Get Enough of obviously unqualified presidential contenders.
*************************************
Evidently, the Democrats haven’t yet had enough of the most obviously unqualified person to ever be called “president” of the US. Of the Republicans just ‘mentioned’ for president, not a one is as unqualified as Obola (ruins/kills everything he touches). After Obola leaves the country in a smoking ruin, I suspect the ‘Rats will all still be inhaling the smoke and saying .... aaaahhhh.
Oh, and the reason for pieces like this at Reason is that if they go too far on things like school choice and deregulation, their liberal hipster friends quit passing them the bong, and start whispering that they heard they might have said something racist one time.
The Democrat lineup is full of schmucks, too.
The only difference is they have an entire cadre of media sychophants keeping the public from finding out about it.
Unqualified Presidential contenders. Is the author crazy?or what. Its not as if the Republican candidates of the past were Einstiens but they beat the democrats in the intellect hands down.
The problem with the Republicans is that their intellect is so much greater than the a average votor so that knocks them right out of the concideration box as far as democrat cities are concerned.
Then they go and try to out democrat the democrat candidate and they lose the vote of the educated conservative votors.
Any one of our candidates is better on the issues than a democrat.
the biggest schmuck is IN THE WHITE HOSUE... never held a real job, always employed as a political FAVOR, we know absolutely NOTHING of his education or if he even has a degree, HE IS DISBARRED, he is a habitual LIAR, he has aided and abetted the enemy during WAR...TRERASON.
Far as the people mentioned, they are 100 times more qualifieed thatn obama on a pure IQ basis, AND THEY WANT TO RESTORE THE constitution and bill of rights...
Clintoon hs never been SUCCESSFUL AT ANYTHINHG.... her foreign policy management has led us to the brink of world war3, and she stil ahs to reveal Benghazi facts that include arming al queda and standing down rescue forces...
I didn’t know being a career politician was a requirement for running for office. It would seem that we need the opposite. Hey, this is everyone’s chance to be the boss. Interview and scrutinize ALL candidates, and pick the winner.
Nick is not qualified to write this and he is truly a schmuck. Nick, go find a real job.
These people are not scmucks. But I agree with the premise. Being a strong conservative in belief and action does not equate to good leadership at a federal level. In my opinion the most qualified are those governors who have strong beliefs and action. The Republicans are fortunate to have several that fill the bill and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt they are top drawer leaders. And they are the ones, IMO, on whom we should be focused.
Sarah was a good governor but she has passed her political prime. Christie is too glib of tongue. Jeb has a Common Core” and amnesty problem. Romney would be a great president but his Massachusetts health plan and Mormon faith will keep him out of the WH, Kasich is an Obamacare advocate, so what Governors are remaining? Walker and Perry, both of whom have been not just good governors, but outstanding. So much for my considered opinion.
The GOP’s Long Love Affair With Shmucks
Thought the article was going to be about the RINOs then read
Palin, Trump, Carson
Didn’t read any further.
Yeah, a real contrast to the recent donkey-crat presidential field:
Al Gore - moron
John Kerry - moron
Joe Biden - moron
Barack Obama - f’n moron
(I could go on)
Palin worked her way up the ladder on her own, and proved to be one of the incredibly few willing to buck the whole corrupt, crony system, even going after those in her own Party. Her whole career fits the Jeffersonian ideal.
Gillespie? Those doofuses at the “Reason” message-boards were all celebratory at Obama’s victory in 2008, and thrilled with the defeat of McCain-Palin. Gillespie looks like a haggard, burned-out, dopehead moron, always clad in his leather jacket, going for some kind of urban hipster vibe, wallowing in detached irony. Like this pathetic puke is even fit to shine Palin’s shoes.
Guys like this remind me of why I don’t call myself libertarian. I am sympathetic with the philosophy but most of the ardent ones are more interested in articulating how smart they are for not being Republicans (for the record I don’t call myself that either).
Love him or hate him Trump is totally qualified to be President. If it comes down to Jeb, Mitt or Crispy I’m voting for Trump all day long.
No Obama supporter should ever refer to “obviously unqualified presidential contenders”. The bar is so low after having seen the low-information voter choice for 2008 and 2012 that no one now qualifies as an obviously unqualified presidential contender.
