Looks like GE has a foot in the door...

The General Electric Corporation is now running ads (heard on WABC Radio) bragging about how they're building a comprehensive, global database of individual medical records ("for every person on the planet"). We recall wondering what sort "stimulus" would be in the cards for giant GE when we saw pictures of its CEO Jeffrey Immelt hanging out with President Obama last year.

They should be offering the contract to whomever is hacking into the CC systems of Target, Staples, X-Box, Chick-fil-a, yadayadayada. There’s no way such a massive central database wouldn’t be a treasure trove, pot of gold target of opportunity.

The BNSF railroad hired GE to build a replacement centralized train dispatching system several years ago and they were not competent. When attempting to use it, we had technicians, one per every four dispatchers rebooting computers as the crashed. The RR had to revert to the old system they had.
