Depending on how the two survivors end up in the court system, that might end up being two or three permanently off the streets.

Not a chance. Every time we hear about these people, we learn that they all have dozens of crimes on their rap sheets... serious crimes. And yet, they're still out on the streets. On top of that, we keep getting told how racist the justice system is and how blacks get locked up for every little thing.

The rap sheets on the worst of the worst are astoundingly long.
Unfortunately the long term outcome of the “Great” Society created so many criminals we can hardly afford to keep them incarcerated any more.
