They weren't just "abandoned" the first time.
They were knowingly sent into a situation made hopeless by the Kennedy adminstration's gutting of the Eisenhower invasion plan.
There was no air support, and the whole works had been leaked in the press. Amateur hour at the White House is nothing new.
A twist to the story is, JFK got word in 1960 that the US was secretly planning a Cuban landing. Nixon, being a member of the administration, couldn't talk about it.
So in the presidential debates, Kennedy kept hammering at the Eisenhower administration's "weak" Cuban policy, knowing that Nixon could not answer back, for fear of getting the wind up in Cuba.
It seems that Obama, and those who oppose the embargo, want to add 11 million Cubans in the Island to U.S. welfare rolls. Castro will bankrupt U.S. as he bankrupted the Soviet Union.
AMERICANS BEWARE!
Pope Francis concocted Obamas unconditional surrender to Cuba Stalinist regime.
Behind Obamas unconditional surrender to the Castros brothers, is the plot to make the American taxpayers liable for whatever the American companies sell to Cuba. The end of the embargo is their goal. "Because of something called the Export-Import Bank there's no risk whatsoever in exporting to bankrupt, murderous and kleptocratic regimes- worse there' no incentive for the kleptocrats to clean up their act, as would happen under a genuine free-market. Also the World, financed 80% by the American taxpayers will open their vaults to be freely looted by the Castro brothers."

(You always hear and read of a fiasco, a defeat a disaster at the Bay of Pigs, 53 years ago this week. But you rarely hear about the cause. Here it is.)
“They fought like tigers,” writes the CIA officer who helped train the Cubans who splashed ashore at the Bay of Pigs 53 years ago this week. “But their fight was doomed before the first man hit the beach.”
