He at least identified the first sin of the Bush family: gutting the defense budget in the early 90s.

This drove 500,000 Americans out of the LA basin between 1990 - 1993.

Who and what filled the gap?

Low end warehousing and shipping jobs to accommodate the other Bush family initiative: Chinese trade. The jobs went to Mexicans overwhelmingly.

So Reddy gets points for that.

But then he veers off into the Rat narrative: it’s racist to limit illegal immigration.

Mexicans are a race? when did that happen?

Prop. 187 was hugely popular. Still is. Had Wilson kept the appeal going and Lundgren sided with it, it never would have been overturned by the illegal stunt of taking it to the arbitration board of the 9th Circuit.

And thats why we recalled Gray Davis. He said he would uphold 187 (”i’m not a judge”). He lied and then violated his oath.

Did the Great and Wondrous Mexican Masses then consolidate their power and elect Cruz Bustamante?

No. They lost to a Teutonic comic book superhero.

Because most of them are here illegally, and the county recorders offices still functioned. Cant register, cant vote.

And if the sleazy RINOs hadnt been listening to guys like Reddy, they would have gotten Arnold to move 187 forward. And the freebie magnet would have been turned off. Far fewer illegals.

But...they didnt. So now we have a majority Mexican population in Los Angeles courtesy of the gutting of the defense industry and RINO fecklessness during the 90s and since then.

And Reddy wants us to suck it up and Go Mexican? Pinatas for all?

Kashkari - the Bush family stooge - got stomped on in the election.

So much for race politics by the RINOs.

California Republicans gave up. Plain and simple. They stopped being willing to advance conservatism, and “big tented” themselves into oblivion.

Look at their continual cries, that they had to “moderate” their beliefs, and that they had to be more “centrist”. It was suicidal.

The basic flaw in their logic was that *they* had to change to attract people to their party. The truth was that they had to present a clear, contrasting image to what the Democrats pushed for. It was the difference between giving up on their core values, and expressing their core values as an alternative.

As such, the utter failure of the California Republicans is a profound message of the liberal Republican “moderates” on the national stage. They try to push the party into exactly the same disaster; with almost the identical outcome, as did the California Republicans.

Learn from history, you dullards.

Conservatives should remember the California lesson whenever some fool like Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney opens their yap and tries to be a “centrist” or “moderate”.

Because what they are pushing is just failure and defeat.

Good analysis.

While 187 was a good idea, the campaign for it seemed racist as hell to even a lot of conservatives.

Arnold was in many ways the quintessential candidate- (somewhat) fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Outside of a few churches I know of no one who even slightly cares about gay marriage or even questions climate change, but they'll vote to cut taxes anytime they get the chance. YMMV

Gresham’s Law applied to people. California has driven out the GOP supporting middle class and imported a 3rd world underclass. The Democratic coalition thrives in states with a U shape income distribution: Limousine Liberals and welfare taking poor people.

On a recent trip to California and my hometown on the west-side of LA, I went shopping at my old neighborhood market and I’m pretty sure I heard at least six different languages spoken by the customers there. I finally got to hear spoken English from the cashier(a very long term employee whom I knew)

I have lived here since the Republican downfall began. The Republican party became infested with RINOs. I am serious about that. Once the RINOs took over, why vote? The RINOs were afraid of the MSM and being called racist by the Democrats. Most conservatives don’t even bother to vote here unless there is an amendment on the ballot. Same with the Senate. Voting for a president in California is also a waste of time.

It looks to me like the same thing is happening to the country as a whole. If folks continue to elect RINOs, the whole country will soon end-up like California.

Forget California, at least in the political sense. It’s conquered territory, firmly under the leftist jackboot.

Somewhere I read an article that showed how California turned hard left, almost immediately, after Reagan’s amnesty. I think GHWB won California in 1988, but that was it....

hardly a surprise why Demon Rats want illegals everywhere.
