Its one of my favorite topics. Cognitive dissonance typically manifests itself by the stress resulting from subconscious beliefs about oneself that are in conflict with the conscious real live world.
It is the force that causes your lovely little princess teenage daughter who has had the best of everything in life from parenting to opportunities, to take up with the tattooed creep from the convenience store who is already a baby daddy and slaps her around.
It is the force that causes your top salesman on his way to the executive ranks to visit transvestite prostitutes in his off hours.
