That was my first thought. The gun-grabbers have deliberately obscured the distinction to gain an advantage among the many people who are unfamiliar with guns.

We’ve already reached the point where, in some areas, you can’t have guns if they are outside the house or loaded. I can remember as a youngster riding around in a pickup truck with a gun rack sporting loaded rifles, and not just during hunting season. That would get you thrown in prison now in some states. My how times have changed (and unfortunately will likely continue to change).

He failed the second amendment a long time ago. Months ago I got a call asking me to support him, financially, the call was described as a poll,and I told them I didn’t like his stand on the Second Amendment. I believe after that he modified his stand but has relapsed, in my humble opinion those living in a city are more likely to be in need of semi-autos than those in rural ares. The only reason I have for noy supporting fully automatic is ammo consumption, governments can afford it private citizens cannot, we will need to conserve. Anyone who has not done something that has caused him to lose his civil rights should own the “assault weapon” of the day. Of course the powers that be are making it more difficult to not break the “law”

If you read their fine print pump shotguns and lever action rifles are also “assault weapons” and of course they don’t want you to own any handgun. If you moved to rural Alaska they would probably, with registration and background check and a receipt for your trigger lock and gun safe, allow you to have an old model 67 Winchester single shot, bolt action .22, but you would only be able to buy “ratshot” with a dollar a round tax on it.
