If you're referring to the experimental drug that is derived from tobacco plants, apparently there were only a few doses available and they're all gone and it takes quite awhile to make new batches.
They're not sure that drug saved them. Those other two people (I believe) were doctors. They were taken to the best facilities where they got the very best care imaginable. Transfusions, constant iv hydration, and whatever else they could. In other words, money was no object. Constant attention.
But with Duncan we're closer to how this will really play out. An average hospital doing what it can. Maybe he's getting pretty good care but we know what an average hospital is like. There's no one person that's looking specifically after you.

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
BE PREPARED FOR FORMAL, GOVERNMENT LIES:
"He died from complications NOT related to Ebola".
"We think he had malaria, HIV, TB, etc, and we cannot prove he died of ebola".
"See?! Obamacare is great!"
That is a theory. The Black Death was an Ebola related disease, and Asians and Europeans have a partial immunity
Thanks for the ping!
There was a CNN report from a passenger (seat mate ) on the plane from Brussels who said he was very ill on that flight and requested medical assistance.
Also there were reports that he and at least one other took the 19 year old woman around to several hospitals (carrying her in and out) in Liberia and none would accept her, so they took her home. They knew she was not having a miscarriage
No wonder Duncan got out of Liberia. The hospitals are in overload. People will be fleeing these countries to get medical help elsewhere. Hopefully, the contagious period of the Ebola virus happens when the victims are too sick to travel. Otherwise, there needs to be a step up in the screening process with tests that are accurate and give fast results.
