To date, Jallah is the only person who has seemed to show any common sense. I nominate her for the position of Director of the CDC.

If this bunch of morons doesn’t get ebola, the rest of us needn’t be concerned. That her mother would call the girl to take care of her puking shack-up from Ebola Land is unforgivable. If this is the caliber of the African community in Dallas, they can expect many more episodes such as this one.

Some Liberian said "fetch" a month ago:

Nah, who also raised Shacki's older sister Fanta, 25, and 22-year-old brother Samuel, says the teenager helped her sell ice water to West Point residents. "He goes all over the community to fetch me the water that I will be able to sell. Now Shacki is dead."

That is my opinion also. But the problem remains with 13,500 more visas to Ebola countries and a thoroughly incompetent and partly malevolent administration.

If they learned Brit English, they might say “fetch” in that way. The mother may speak Brit English.

I saw this morning he is on a ventilator. If true, I do not believe it is a good sign

FedGov’s best, AKA The “Duck Tape” Team is on the case.

I’m not just being snarky, look at the suited figure to the right side of the picture in post #2.

How would you know how Liberians talk? Not one English speaking country speaks it the same way.

First no one talks like that, especially Black people.

Cut him some slack, he's from Liberia. Former American black slaves left the USA and founded Liberia, where they speak a form of American slang English. So it stands to reason that slang from long ago is still spoken there. Liberians and backwards people like the Clintons probably still say "fetch".

The median IQ of the black African population of sub-Saharan Africa is around 75. I personally think this is an important consideration in this case; it is unlikely that this poor fellow, or his relatives, have the foresight that many of us would to fully understand the potential impact of their actions. This must be factored into the public health response, along with the dramatic differences in cultures-- it is not a given that they accept Western Medicine or government as authoritative.

BIG LOL on that, and so we can add to that "What difference does it make".

Just wondering who in the heck is interviewing that woman and for what reason? To get some other ignorant statement from her? It must be they want to report her statements for a Laugh aka ridicule......

It’s true :) A lot of African nations are former British colonies-Liberia isn’t but the predominant spoken English over there would be Brit-derived. (I don’t say “The Queen’s English”, because it’s usually some dialect, never mind the grammar.)

He couldn’t have been that unsophisticated, to have filled out visa forms, and know enough to lie about his health status, and having been a former employee of a shipping concern (although that may have been a manual labor job).

“Fetch” is a perfectly good descriptive word. I’ve heard it all my life. While no longer in common usage, it may be more prevalent in African English.
