It was 1969. Kate invited me to join her for a gathering at the home of her friend, Lila Karp. They called the assemblage a “consciousness-raising-group,” a typical communist exercise, something practiced in Maoist China. We gathered at a large table as the chairperson opened the meeting with a back-and-forth recitation, like a Litany, a type of prayer done in Catholic Church. But now it was Marxism, the Church of the Left, mimicking religious practice:
“Why are we here today?” she asked.
“To make revolution,” they answered.
“What kind of revolution?” she replied.
“The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.
“By destroying the American family!” they answered.
“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.
“By destroying the American Patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.
“And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
“By taking away his power!”
“How do we do that?”
“By destroying monogamy!” they shouted.
“How can we destroy monogamy?”
Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears. Was I on planet earth? Who were these people?
“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!” they resounded.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."
and for those who have not read the “45 goals of communism 1963”, it is a real eye opener....... got me involved to fight every one of them where I find them. ( and damn they are doing a GREAT job)

The woman was wise. I was a teenager when the 60’s began. I was more conservative than most of my peers at the time. All the girls in my school wore JFK buttons because he was so “cute” (I guess its generational that most teens are politically brain dead). I lived through the beginning of the Elvis craze then the Beatles craze. Then I started to see the ugly part of the 60’s coming Being from a small town in Mississippi it was not as obvious as when I moved to New Orleans. I saw the moral compass began to crack and the USA has been on a downward spiral ever since except for the brief Regan years. It has been sad watching the great nation I was so proud of to be taken over by people who had no clue what our country was all about and they still don’t today.
Glad to hear it.
They say that as a person ages, the condition of their soul shows through their face. So... I don't think Time was to blame.
