I don’t think you actually read the article if you believe that the writer is advocating pacifism. He is not.
No hes not, but he appears to be saying its for our “rulers” or in service to them to use not for us as individuals on our own as against evil rulers.
The writer has written a brief article discussing “How should Christians expect our nation to respond to ISIS?” In other words, what should our government be doing? He is not discussing how individual should response to evil rulers. It is not the topic. I think you are reading far more into the article than the writer intends.
You could write him and ask him what he thinks about that specific issue. Or you might be able to read his other writings and identify for sure where he stands on that specific issue. Here is a massive archive of his articles on National Review going back to 2006: http://www.nationalreview.com/author/david-french
Well......that’s quite a choice but until someone dies it doesn’t matter what we think.
After Catholic Joe comes Boehner, and then ‘I served in Vietnam’ Kerry....what a list.
God loved King David, and David was a warrior, who protected Israel....I think that says it all.
Writer takes a few biblical leaps but God is just and the love of Christ compels us to bring justice to those being slaughtered by these agents of Satan called ISIS.
Swords of govt do not always bring justice nor are govts the hand of God bringing his justice.
What goes around, comes around and sometimes you just have to be someone’s karma, like with those who like sawing the heads off of people they don’t like, raping their wives and selling their children into slavery.
