In all due respect to Mr. Gingrich: never, ever compare obama to Reagan and Eisenhower in any way, shape, or form.

President Eisenhower was a very serious golfer who had been a varsity football player at West Point. Reagan went to college on a football scholarship. It might not have been West Point, but it should be mentioned occasionally.

it's a great platform; but NEWT, you killed your chances
('08/'12) sitting next to NAZI Pelosi, no matter the cause.
btw, Newt, try keeping your points to 3/5, RWR did that, he
pounded those points incessantly.

When Ike wasn't golfing, however, he was the best trained strategist to ever occupy the White House. From being first in his class at the Army Command and General Staff College to serving as General MacArthur's speechwriter to rising meteorically from lieutenant colonel to general of the Armies (five stars), Eisenhower proved to be exceptionally smart and hard-working. Only two men ever held that rank, and neither were named Dwight Eisenhower. They were John Pershing and George Washington. Not to diminish Ike in any way, but Newt's facts are wrong.
Otherwise, a nice piece.

Ike and Reagan were also veterans, and served our country with honor and distinction. IMO, ALL presidential nominees should be required to prove enlisted service in the US armed forces. The Oath of Enlistment is a good start: In the Armed Forces EXCEPT the National Guard (Army or Air: I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. Any man or woman who wants to lead this country as President should have experience DEFENDING IT prior to their election. In fact, Israel has the right idea with mandatory military service for both men and women. Would certainly change the current PUNK culture we have now.

Newt knows his history ... especially that of Jefferson and Madison impeaching "off-the-reservation" corrupt Federal Judges ...
THAT's why the Establishment hates Newt ...

I discovered this at Wikipaedia ...
Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower (pronounced /ˈaɪzənhaʊər/, EYE-zən-how-ər; October 14, 1890 March 28, 1969) was the 34th President of the United States from 1953 until 1961.
He was a five-star general in the United States Army during World War II and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe; he had responsibility for planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch in 194243 and the successful invasion of France and Germany in 194445 from the Western Front.
In 1951, he became the first supreme commander of NATO.[2]
