It’s taken me a long time to figure this out, but Obama’s re-election taught me something: Democrats are like republicans. Let me aske the average freeper this question: How bad would a republican president have to be for you to vote for his democrat opponent if the democrat was your typical democrat candidate?

Exactly. That is how Obama won in 2012.

That being said, what actually happens is that if “your” candidate is just really bad, what you do is stay home or, sometimes, cast a “symbolic” vote (e.g. Ross Perot).

It’s not about getting people to vote for you. It’s about getting the people that will vote for you to vote, and incentivizing the supporters of your opponent to not vote at all.

IOW, our biggest hope is that the Democratic voters don’t show up.

There hasn’t been a Republican to vote “For” since Reagan, the rest have been votes “Against” the Democrat.

That’s my point. A lot of democrats feel the same way about their party. The key is not turning around voters (except the mindless ones in the middle), but making sure your people are incentivized to vote, and the other guy’s voters don’t.

It’s taken me decades to figure out that is where the game is won or lost. It was analyzing the mindset of the democrats I spar with regularly on the last presidential election that did it. A lot of them voted for Obama the same way I voted for Romeney - with a clothespin clamped on their nose.

“39 seems to be Obama’s bottom. I’ve seen poll after poll after poll and he never falls below that number.”

39 is the firewall. If they actually polled correctly rather than a heavy democrat skew, that number would be closer to 32-33%

Oh I am fired up here in Kentucky I have the race card playing, douche bag McConnell or a rank idiot Grimes.

On the House side I have Hal Rogers who could give Sheets Byrd a run for title of biggest porker in history.

I am just looking to vote for conservative candidates down the ticket cause there sure as hell are not any on the top of it, either party.
