Their University Journalism Professors must be soooooooooo proud!
Heather Booth -
I first learned that if we organize we can change the world from my work in the civil rights movement (CORE and SNCC) as a teenager. Then work in the women’s movement (where I started JANE) and then anti-war movement. I founded Midwest Academy with money I won from a back pay suit for labor organizing, which continues as a terrific organizer training center emphasizing strategic movement building. I’ve been involved with many elections and was training director at the DNC. Now focus on large scale issue campaigns: former founding director of NAACP National Voter Fund, Campaign for Immigration Reform, Americans for Financial Reform. Currently consulting with National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare and the Voter Participation Center. And a partner in Democracy Partners. I’m married to another gamechanger—Paul Booth. We have two grown sons and four grandchildren who are joys in our life. It is wonderful to have a life in the movement for justice and democracy and work with so many progressive organizers.
Thank you!
