I was speaking of days gone past. The list of Northern Senate Republicans from the 50s and 60s I used shows that a Liberal Republican did once exist, and mostly was a Northern thing as the South was entirely democrat, yet these democrats were conservative. Now our parties have swapped that appellation and it is the Southern Conservative Republican that cover that part of the country while the Northern Liberal still exists but all as democrats, with an occasional Republican, still Liberal, such as Lincoln Chaffee or Chris Christie.

I got a theory about the last episode and the beginning of next seasons. Remember when Heller dropped the bottle of pills and his aid helped pick them up. I think the aid put a look alike pill in the bottle. Heller is going to take it and go into a death like catatonic state appearing dead. They will bring his body home to the US for an autopsy when they check the casket they will find it empty. Is the president dead or alive. Next season will tell the story.
The presumption is that the conservatives will always hold their noses and vote for the GOP candidate. They have no other choice—or so they think.
