I have a 2002 PU w/ 150K miles and also refuse to buy a new GM product.
After being for the most part a GM man and driving nothing but safe, sensible nerdmobiles (excepting a very fun TR-6) my entire adult life, a couple months ago we started car shopping by looking at a Cadillac SRX. Ended up getting a 2015 BMW X-3 M Sport (made in South Carolina by non-union workers) instead and haven’t looked back. Superb fit and finish, performance, and comfort for the same money. Sorry GM, you fail.
I'm with you now.
Let’s just say for a moment that the company here is name Enron instead of General Motors. And let’s say instead of Baraq Obama being the company spokesperson, we have Jeffry Skilling, Andrew Fastow, and Ken Lay. And instead of the Obama spokesperson talking up the stock price of GM by telling us how wonderful the company was while at the same time hiding its liabilities, we had Skilling, Lay, and Fastow going out there and talking up the value of Enron stop while keeping well hidden its many liabilities. Wouldn’t we want to try those people in a court of law for fraud and stock price manipulation? Why is it any different when Baraq Obama does it?
Now the post-bankruptcy stockholders will get screwed.
As George W. Bush said, "Fool me once, shame on, shame on you. Fool me, you cant get fooled again.
Well Nachum, just wanted to pass along that our California State Legislators don’t buy GM cars. State Senator Jerry Hill (RAT, San Mateo) just blew by me on I680 at about 75 in his new state-owned $100k Tesla. Is it wonderful how we have created a “legislative class.” Guy has a beard which makes his being a RAT a sure thing!
