From what I have read, book sales topped off in 2007 and have been tapering off since.
I read a lot of stuff on-line, including full books from places like Project Gutenberg which didn't get counted.
The only other stuff that doesn't get counted is from smaller bookstores. So if people are buying and reading a lot of used books from small, independent bookstores then that wouldn't show up in the tallies.
I think everyone is missing the gambit here. By releasing Hillary’s ghost-written book at this time, she can stay in the spotlight without being in the political arena. This way she avoids any possibly difficult questions (except, “Are you running for President?”, which will be coyly evaded)while she spouts founts of focus-group tested phrases and bumper sticker platitudes.
She will throw her hat in the ring late in the campaign to avoid making her more haggard than she is. Behind the scene, the DNC black ops machine will reward S&S for their trouble.
You were lied to. Only books like the Bible sell in the millions on a regualr basis. The previous comments noting 15 to 20K per week are correct. It does matter what time of year book is released. Christmas has higher sales. The only part moving of this dynamic is that there are about 100 million more people in the US since the 1970s. Thus more potetial readers.
I believe you misread my comment. I said I was told that a national best seller sold @ 500K, that’s half a million. A really top, top seller might have sold a million. And that referred to a 1970s bestsellers, when all books were published in paper, not electronically.
I understood your comment. Very few best sellers have ever sold 500K in one week. That was more likely the total sales for the book.
Salesman lie all of the time.
I didn’t say in a week. I said that best sellers sell in the 500K range. You are reading into my comment what you want to, apparently. Please don’t put words into my posts. Thanks.
Congrats to Ben Carson!
Oh, it's "number two" alright. A steaming dog-bomb.
