I decided shortly after my post to get rolling on it and went out and loaded up on a few jugs of pure grape/blueberry juice. My fast was started on Thursday so at the moment, I’m just a bit over 2 full days into it. It’s going quite well. I’m feeling quite energetic and haven’t actually felt hungry after the first ‘regular’ meal was passed….drinking lots of good juice will do that. This morning I went out for an early bike ride to a farmer’s market about 15 miles away so I’m getting some decent exercise too. I seem to remember from past fasts that the 3rd day is actually the hardest due to some mild headaches and once you get past that, it’s fairly clear sailing to 7 days. By about day 4, I seem to remember a bit of a sense of euphoria. When I started this, I was only going to do a 3 day fast but it’s going so well I might just go the full 7 days.

One thing that I can report on… on previous fasts, I never monitored my blood pressure but in the past 10 years my blood pressure has been rather unreasonably high so I bought my own blood pressure meter to track it at home. I checked it just now and it has probably dropped 30 to 40 points (systolic) and 20 points (diastolic) from what it typically is. Right now, it is just about into an ideal range which is a very interesting result given that I’m only a few days into the fast. I figured it would drop but I wasn’t expecting it to drop that quickly… very unexpected result and one that I’ll be monitoring closely. As for my weight, I’ve dropped about 5 pounds so far.
