Reading human emotions into animal behavior is a stupid move. Rats are not people. There is no way to know if the animal feels regret.
The “study” is a fraud, as are most.
How much did this “study” cost the taxpayers? Couldn’t research money be better spent for things like looking for a cure for cancer?
Now what they need to study is if over time, if rats are infected with Toxoplasmosis, if their feelings of regret will be diminished by the protozoa, and the rats will be retrained to be attracted to regret.
When infected rats experience fear, the protozoa releases an enzyme that makes their brain release dopamine, which is the “feel good” brain chemical, and GABA, which makes them half-asleep. Over time, this trains the rats to be attracted that that which they fear, and should fear.
While regret is based in a minor fear, it is still a fear. So the protozoa might retrain them to consistently make bad decisions.
Anywhere from 11 to 30 million Americans are believed to be infected with toxoplasmosis as well.
Rats make great chefs. I know because I saw it in a movie.
Leo,
You forget, Democrats have never lost an election. Those are always “stolen”. Remember?
The fact that Eric Cantor has shown no regret makes me doubt this study.
Democrats have never felt regret except that they haven’t done enough damage.
