Yeppers.
NOTHING was done by Barry Soreto .. because this was a pregnant Christian woman being persecuted and tortured by Muslims because of her faith.
Do you really think he really cares? Assuming of course, that Barry was actually told anything about this of course.

A foreign ministry official told the BBC that Meriam Ibrahim, 27, is guaranteed religious freedom in the country, despite a judge's earlier ruling that she should be hanged for apostasy. Noteworthy is the fact that now the odds of that "ministry official" to be killed by a islamaniac are about 50-50.
The sharia" judge? pretty much zero.

She may be in more danger when she is released.
If they just open the doors and let her out the gates of the prison, she will killed within minutes by a crowd of people.

Well, I'm glad of that, but they really need to decide what the laws are in their country. Shouldn't be too hard. You can't be serious.
The two major sects of islam can't agree of what "the laws" are. They have killed each other for centuries over that single issue.
And neither set are secular laws.

Except that for 20th-21st century Muslims, a "martyr" (shahid of shaheed) is a person who loses his life
while murdering a whole bunch of other people, including innocent ones. In fact, I've read that if a Muslim "fighting in the way of Allah" (for the advancement of Islam) dies in his bloody assault and kills a bunch of Muslim bystanders simultaneously, the Muslim "collateral damage" people are also considered shahids, that is, they are honored as fortunate and assured of Paradise.
So they're not particularly scrupulous about "collateral damage," even if the people they kill are their own.
Thus --- at least in our lifetime --- "martyr" to Muslims has acquired an almost opposite meaning that the word as applied by Christians.
In the Catholic Church, for instance, a person cannot be honored with the title of "martyr" if he died "in possession of arms."

Your statement.
It appears that she is being freed because of the UK Foreign Office applying pressure on the Sudan.
Splendid news! Out of politeness I will not comment on the White House here. I can only hope some decent soul, did some fast work on this woman's behalf Stateside. Who knows? What I would like to comment on, is the name Omdurman. Scene of the British/Egyptian forces victory over the Sudanese Arabic forces in 1898. Churchill was there riding in the Cavalry. Possibly one of the last battles in which the forces of Islam took the field. Although they did fight in WW1 in the Middle East and were defeated by Lord Allenby's forces.
This seems to be another victory. One for diplomacy.

Thank you, UK.
See what a little pressure from “outsiders” (UKIP, Tea party) will do?

Obama will climb on the dung hill of Islam and crow about saving this woman. Guaranteed.

Despite having an American husband and two American children, it appears the US State Department and White House did NOTHING to try to secure her release. You know where he stands when the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

They believe that Sharia Law has its place here - it certainly gives those in power some juicy options to handle "heretics" and "apostates".....
