Early life and education
Rice was born in Washington, D.C.,[5] to Emmett J. Rice (19192011), Cornell University economics professor and the second black governor of the Federal Reserve System;[5] and education policy scholar Lois (née Dickson) Fitt, currently at the Brookings Institution.[6] Her maternal grandparents were Jamaican.[7] Her parents divorced during her youth.[citation needed] She is not related to former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Rice was a three-sport athlete, student council president, and valedictorian at National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C., a private girls’ day school.[8] She played point guard in basketball and directed the offense, acquiring the nickname Spo, short for “Sportin”.[8]

Troops are probably needed to take out witnesses that could tell what really went on at Benghazi.

Its not the ship that matters so much. 1000 Marines can make quite an impression. Seriously.
To: FlyingEagle
1000 Marines and a capable shit with the right ordinance can leave quite a depression.

Ship Ship! That’s suppose to say Ship!

A group of 100 terrorists were going up a valley when they seen a young Marine on top of the hill shouting and flipping them the bird. The commander sent 10 men up the hill to kill the infidel. After a brief fire fight the young Marine appeared again this time mooning the men in the valley. The commander barked at his second in command and told him to take the rest of the men up the hill and bring back his head. 45 minutes later the second in command comes dragging down the hill shot up and bleeding screaming “It’s a trap, there’s two of them”!

The 1000 Marines are most likely the current MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) on a Med float. The Marines out of Italy are the FAST (Fleet Anti Terrorism Security Team) company. Both are trained in NEOs (Non Evacuation Operations) which would be what is called for here.
To: Old Teufel Hunden
Whoops, NEO stands for Non Combat Evacuation Operations, not Non Evacuation Operations.

Benghazi ping.
Let Republicanprofessor know if you want on or off this ping list.

"One ship?"
No, this would be an amphibious group, normally about five ships in an amphibious group. The U.S.S. Bataan is the main ship of the group which holds the MEU commander and Admiral of the Amphib group. It's like when they talk about a carrier group. They just show the carrier, but there are a whole lot of other ships involved in a carrier group.

"Another broken promise no soldiers in Libya... "
Not in this instance. It is the job of the MEU out on float and Marines mission in general to protect American citizens overseas. They are merely there if the $$%!@& hits the fan and the Embassy needs evacuated, they are there to conduct that Embassy evacuation operation. They are there to protect American interests.

"Troops are probably needed to take out witnesses that could tell what really went on at Benghazi."
No, the Amphib group is there to conduct a Non Combat Evacuation Op of the Embassy if it's needed and the #$^%& hits the fan. Right now I'm guessing all American citizens that can't fly out of Libya are being told to haul their butts over to the Embassy. Sort of like the wild west frontier fort to go to before the Indians attack.

"There were no Lybyan George Washingtons waiting in the wings but plenty of terrorists."
Zactly!! While we didn't contribute much, we did fly support missions for our European allies. I don't think we should have gotten involved at all since there was no credible leader to come forward to take Ghadaffi's place. Unless the Euros were willing to go in and colonise them circa 1870 and teach them liberal democracy the only solution is another strongman. You don't learn liberal democracy on the fly...

Imagine, if you can, the hissy fit that Commander in Chief Obama would throw if during a sworn hearing of the Benghazi House Committee, Chairman Trey Gowdy asked Obama: Where were you, and what were you doing during the night of September 11, 2012?
