Agreed - best vanity - really tho, it’s not vanity - a good word and thought for all.
Actually been a Freeper since ‘91 though it says my join date was ‘99 (never figured that out), and more than glad to be a monthly supporter.
If you’re a frequent visitor, indeed - please consider a regular contribution.......
Look Newbie( just joking with that comment). Thanks for this thread. I use this site for most of my news. I was on chat with some one in La Mirada, Ca and during chat that Earthquake hit. I did not feel it(about 60 miles away, but I opened another screen, checked here and had magnitude and epicenter immediately.
News! I wish I’d mentioned news in that vanity.
FR news is as fast as any news network and in many cases, FR has scooped them...in just the way you mention.
Thanks, Arlis. Here’s praying that many will donate.
i pray things turn around for you Sir soon
And yes, I love this place too...
Every now and then I run across some of the original freepers. Makes me feel like a newbie. :>)
IF you are a 1997 Freeper, please raise your hand.
I soon found my self coming back to catch up on the News and read the Commentary.
Even back 5 years ago sitting here trying to pick my name would I have ever thought I would have learned so much, and shared so much.
It is now 5 years later that I understand what FR really is. It is the Bleeding Edge of News Scoures. When Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck says "Show Prep", they really mean "I (or my staff) were browsing FR's Latest Articles Page".
It also has the best forum format. I think those who complain need to try the other one’s i have been on.
No way to quickly see replies to your posts,
and that usually appear in small boxes when you post them,
and or you cannot paste preformatted text without the software messing it up when posted,
and or cannot use html,
and or cannot post links till you make 50 posts,
and cannot post more than 1600 characters,
and or comboxes have small font size you cannot change,
and or mods (vs. the best here) are eager to show their authority,
etc.
Keep it the way it is, while a Firefox ext. called BBCodeXtra can help if you want to make custom scripts to post as html.
I have yet to defile myself.
Thanks. BTTT
Doc Holliday?
Seen Tombstone way too may times. ;-)
Everything you bring up is absolutely true. There is so so much that is better at Free Republic that you’ve got to wonder if Jim and John are the software geniuses of the decade or the last century or both.
And then there’s the whole issue now of even being permitted to make a flippin’ comment on other websites. If you’re not a facebooker, or yahooer, or tweeter or whatever who can sign in with alternate registrations, then you can’t comment at all.
Register at Free Republic, and you get to comment to your heart’s content.
Unless you’re stupid. Then you meet the Viking Kitties.
It's a great site to keep current on the various strands of conservative thinking, from the grassroots to the leaders. None better.
“... more people swilling their last beer than surfing the web ...”
-
Those two things are not mutually exclusive...
It's been my Homepage for almost all of my tenure as a FReeper.
It is the bulwark Conservative site that thousands of leftist Trolls have attacked and failed miserably.
Their burned bodies can still be seen at the foot of the ramparts!
Long live FreeRepublic, its owners, its staff, and its Conservative members!
May God bless them, one and all.
(And for all those who read this thread, and are able to, pitch in to fill the tank -- we've got a long way to go together to save this Nation, and a short time to get there.)
“Im always surprised that that many people cant come up with that much money in a week or less.”
I still remember a year ago when there was thread that asked for donations and there were excuses being posted on why they can give even $5 to the Freepathon.
Totally pathetic. Even a meal at Mcdonald’s, if you sacrifice it once for FR would have ended it. Effing Freepers (a number of them) are cheapskates. I’ll say it again, make membership a $20 a year thing, and no Freepathons ever...
