If you had seen the situation with my sister’s grandson, I think most of us would probably have tased the little freak. He’s dangerous, and probably gonna kill someone someday, I’m afraid, because he’s wacko.
If the news story here is accurate, he was kicking the cops... normal well adjusted 10 year old kids don’t kick cops, and it sounds like this kid had gone full mental. I’m not a defender of jack booted thugs, but I’m just not sure they didn’t do what they had to do, to get this kid in control, in this case.
“You are supposed to emote and focus your hate on the police who have no goal but to kill you.”
I have very mixed feelings about police.
I watch the TV show COPS, and I have empathy for them...95% of their job is dealing with domestic disputes where adults act like toddlers. It looks like an awful job at times.
But they are certainly not without fault. I really can’t understand tasing a 10 year old (unless he was holding a gun). Even if the 10 year old were wielding a knife, I think most people would be able to go up and just grab it. This 10 year old was apparently unarmed...just ‘out of control’. It would take a lot of convincing, to get me to understand why tasing was necessary.
They could have picked him up, put him in the back of a police car, and called the parents.
Really - its a 10 year old. When my kids were younger, and I would roughhouse with them, one thing was glaringly obvious: An adult is infinitely faster, stronger, and more coordinated than a 10 year old kid.
So some cops are good...some are bad. I believe the story stated there was a suspension, so even the department thought this was a mistake. It is just a little scary to contemplate that cops (who have quite a bit of authority) can be ‘bad’. Many years ago, I spent a few months at Fort Knox, for Armor Officer training. Many of my peers were in the National Guard, and had civilian jobs. One of them was a State Trooper from Texas. After spending a few months with him, and seeing how immature he was, it absolutely blew my mind to think that he had a badge.
I don’t think most people ‘hate’ cops....but we do (and most certainly should) hold them to a very high standard. They have a tremendous amount of power.
Nice post. Balanced and rational.
I’m probably generally in agreement with you.
“You are supposed to emote and focus your hate on the police who have no goal but to kill you.”
You are so right. FReepers are out of line on this. It’s not like police are going into hospitals and tazing patients to death.....

Ooooooh. Awkward.
Never mind.
Any LEO who cannot physically restrain a 10-yr old, should be fired, or at least not hired!!
LOL!!
But why is the kid like that? What happened? I am afraid we as a society are making these kids crazy. Is it drugs, chemicals? Moms dumping kids in daycare at 6 weeks? Something is wrong. Until we figure it out these kids are going crazy. Adults need to figure this out.

All of the above? I agree with you. Something is wrong...
Add me, please.
Done, welcome aboard!
Could be very true.

I think you mean an adult man. A ten year old athletic boy may be stronger than many adult women.
Then got punished again when you got home.
Possibly...but nobody in the whole place could handle a ten year old?...To the point of needing to call the police?
We’ve come full circle.....except now the electroshock therapy is delivered to your home.
Daycare = liability issues if they physically restrain the kid. (physically disciplining children is the job of the state, not normal folk, don’t ya know....)
