Not to mention poachers and looters; and if the rangers are posted in a forest near the Mexican border: Zetas, MS-13, and a whole host of other nasty characters who wish to avoid the main roads. Professional poachers, who make a living killing as many protected animals as possible can be downright dangerous, even going so far as targeting forest rangers’ homes.

No indeed, it does not look well for private citizens, specially when the government wants to delete the second amendment to the constitution so that are we helpless. The Dept. of Agriculture is certainly not going to use them to shoot illegal aliens.

Yes, seriously. Those at the Bundy scene report that the BLM officers were scared s***less trying to get outta there.
Maybe they’re skeered?
They should be anyway. That’s how it’s supposed to be.

“Will they try to go up against a 7.62x39 semi-auto? or .223 ? or 12 gauge?”
What about an M1A (7.62x51), maybe even a bit more likely?
To: BuckeyeTexan
Repeatedly been told things like!
Don’t you understand all the ammo, just normal amounts used in the course of target practice and qualifying.
Just because they place a bid doesn’t mean that they are going to buy.

A 30 round magazine on a fully automated machine gun would empty in about 1 second, wouldn’t it?

In the Army, a “machine gun” only fires fully automatically—no semi-auto selection. Most military rifles are automatic rifles (not “machine guns”). If it fires pistol cartridges, it should be called a sub-automatic pistol or something like that.

"A 30 round magazine on a fully automated machine gun would empty in about 1 second, wouldnt it?"
The rate of fire depends on the kind of weapon. Most true machine guns (like the M-60) start at about 3 rounds per quick trigger pull and release. In 3 seconds, they'll fire about 15 rounds. It's best for the barrel to avoid firing bursts much longer than that. Other machine guns will fire at much faster rates (e.g., the SAW).
A 30 round magazine in an M-16 will fire about the same way and at a not much different rate when fired in automatic mode. For most situations, full automatic fire is useless, and semi-auto, better, especially when used by very well trained men. Same with full auto--only a little better when used in very close situations but only by very well trained people. Pump or semi-auto shotguns are best used by most people with less training time required, unless long distances are likely.
