Indeed. My dad Loved Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphians. He was particularly fond of their string section. Dad could tell what orchestra was playing by the sound.
I have heard MANY recordings of Carmina Burana, and although there may be some that are critically considered “Better”, that one was my favorite. Dad and i used to take that record to audio stores to test the speakers (Along with Mahler and Also Sprach Zarathustra!)
(The Great Boston Earthquake Mystery of the 60’s have been solved!)
The Ormandy recording of the Berlioz Requiem is another one for testing sound systems, especially the Dies Irae and Lacrymosa.
Your right it’s pretty good,thanks ChildOfThe60s ((((Hugs))))

Ooooooooooooo Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Verdi’s Requiem is pretty Good for that too!
Funny story...I learned Verdi’s Requiem from a recording of the Moscow Opera that I had taken out of the library.
To this day, i sing the “Lacrymosa” with a Russian accent on the “L’s”. In English, the L is made by vibrating the tip of the tongue against the roof and is a resonating consonant.
In Russian it is almost a guttural.
Singing in Latin with a Russian Accent is weird!
Thanks The Mayor ((((Hugs))))
I couldn’t think of anything with “find” or “found,” but the posters came up with some good ones.
