Will a photo ID be required to use the Interstate?
Oh wait, it already is.
Never mind.
Loads of dripping sarcasm, off.

A ban on tolls on the Interstate? Isn’t I-87 through New York a toll road?
To: lepton
Well, shoot! I had a “shovel ready” comment, and you beat me to it. I hate it when that happens. Well done, though.

RE :”
Congress banned tolls on Interstates in 1956 when it created the national highway system under President Dwight D. Eisenhower” I will file this with Senate Dems (w McCain and Grahamnesty) internet purchase sales tax enforcement Fairness Act that Reid passed.

If states and our federal government spent less on benefits/tax breaks for welfare that ensnares the poor in dead end, non working lives and less on tax breaks for industries that are not economical without gov’t help [solar, wind, electric cars], plus lifted regulations which throttle businesses [EPA, OSHA, minimum wage, Dodd/Frank, etc.], there would be more tax revenue available for roads & infrastructure.

The administration said lifting the toll ban would help address a shortfall in funding to pay for highway repairs.
No, any revenue from turning these roads which we already pay to maintain will be diverted to whatever waste of money is consuming the money which should be used to maintain the interstates now.
To: Nachum
We use roads we don’t pad for?
WTH are the taxes we pay for these roads....?

theyll be in for a double taxation fight.”
And that fight will be launched by whom? Not anyone in Congress that I know of.

In a town near me they approved $2 million from transportation funds to tear down a concrete wall they never should have built in a county park. Fortunately the outrage was loud enough they decided to look for the money elsewhere.
In another example was when Carl Levin was trying to get millions in transportation money to save Tiger stadium in Detroit. His justification for seeking transportation money? He wanted a bus stop built in.

So where are the toll booths to be located, at the state borders? Make us like old Europe or like the eastern block?
“your papers please”.
guess this is more of baraq’s flexibility at work.

Then the whole country can be just like the People’s Republic of Maryland. I’ve lived here for four years. In that time, Bridge and tunnel tolls have doubled and the maggots in the General Asylum instituted a sales tax on gas. When fully implemented, it will be 6%. Yeeehaaa
