It should be illegal to build any living quarter of less than 1,000 sq, ft!
In many places, it is. The last time I checked the zoning laws for the county I'm building a house in, the minimum was 750 square feet, but in some areas it's bigger.
That said, it should really be the choice of the person building it. If somebody wants a tiny house on their property, then I say they should be allowed to build a tiny house.
