To be honest I don’t follow the science super closely because to me the issue is almost totally explained in the realm of ideology. Leftists love global warming because it gives an excuse to empower government, control business, and redistribute wealth. Plus it provides a massive crisis around which people can be rallied to collectively action. Leftists crave that feeling of unity of purpose. Global warming fits all the leftist receptor cites so perfectly that if it didn’t exist, they would have had to invent it, and so they have.
