Good article. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone mention John Kennedy’s refusal to supply air support as the factor that doomed the operation.
The Bay of Pigs invasion was drawn up while Eisenhower was still President. It included air support- the old General knew a lot about how to conduct an amphibious landing.
“Did that decision perhaps resulted in what happened to him in Dallas?”
No. The only Cuban connection Oswald had is belonging to the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, a Communist front group. Oswald would have been pleased that the invasion failed.
“In the crisis, Robert Kennedy notified Soviet Ambassador Dobrynin that U.S. missiles in Turkey would be withdrawn”
That really wasn’t such a big deal. The Jupiter missiles that we had in Turkey were already obsolete, and being close to the Russian border were vulnerable to attack. They were replaced by long range American based ICBMs.
“this incident is what lead to castro requesting and giving permission to russia to place nukes on the island..
jfk did not solve the cuban missile crisis...
jfk CAUSED the cuban missile crisis...
A good story but the Bay of Pigs isn’t why the Soviets wanted their nuclear missiles in Cuba. The Soviets were annoyed because we had posted nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey. The Turkish batteries in particular got under their skin. Cuba provided them with a launch pad as close to US soil as Turkey was to the USSR. The Soviets were motivated by missiles, not the Bay of Pigs, and they certainly didn’t take orders from Castro.
“Anyway, I am convinced, absolutely convinced, that JFK was shot in Dallas as revenge for Bay of Pigs. We may never know how it happened, and who else was involved besides Oswald, but I’m pretty sure about the why. “
We had a deep cover spy inside the Kremlin when Kennedy was shot. His name was Morris Childs, and he was the second most senior official in the CPUSA. Childs witnessed firsthand the reaction of the Politburo members when they learned of Kennedy’s death. The Soviets were as stunned as we were as full of conspiracy ideas as anyone else.
