I remember just barely being able to hear Rush here in Marin county ....if the wind was blwoing in the right direction
Yes, Rush, let’s denigrate Freepers as being in the weeds over a word no one cares about.
And then forget to say that it was FR that made the connection between Harry Reid, Rory Reid, the BLM deputy director and the solar farm deal with the Chinese.
If that connection was not made, Federal agents were prepared to fire on American citizens of all ages—men, women and children.
The stupidity came to a halt when Harry Reid was exposed, and Dingy Harry is very mad about that.
But yeah, we’re all just PIA pronunciation and grammar purists here at FR, great for slamming for a cheap laugh.
BTW, you’re welcome for the show prep.
“Krunkygirl, please report to the new Rush thread.”
You’ve been paged.
Saw the rotarys in the yard on the way over to Reno a couple of years back.
McClellan seems to be overcome by development.
I’ve got Top Gear on now.
James May is great!
Is your first name Piers?
A nod from Rush or a frown is a treat either way:)
LOL
You're in trouble now....
It was a completely good-natured wink and nod at us.
He rarely tells the world his sources for his own show prep—he always jokes he’s the show prep for the MSM.
It’s a huge compliment.
At least we know he monitors our opinion.
AFAIK, for-tay is the usual pronunciation, here in (bilingual) Canada. That is, unless you’re talking about a building used for defense.
I learned the term in a musical context as a youngster, long before I ever heard or read it used in any other way, so I naturally use the Italian pronunciation.
I’m with you, Rush!
The grammar police on this site are out of control!
A.M. radio would today have still been a backwater for weather kooks and emergency signals, were it not for Rush.
Before Rush when there was talk about news matters, schizophrenia was EXPECTED: the hosts had to say the news topic at hand was good, and right after you had to say it was bad —super weird and boring for listeners, but it provided a weird “balance” that was the fashion of the day.
But then RUSH ARRRIVED:
Rush didn’t do any of that —he just laid it right out with any of the normal silly, annoying parsley, and a local Sacramento liberal listener was so surprised and angry at these new things he was hearing out if his radio (from Rush) that he DROVE TO THE STATION..!
He had a BUTCHER KNIFE and he was trying to break through the front door of the station to start killing people...!
The management realized they had something very new and powerful on their hands, and they replaced and radically strengthened all their windows and doors.
They had to change their security protocols at the station very much.
People would drive for many miles around in order to catch sight of the amazing phenom, Rush Limbaugh.
Decades later very many people can still remember exactly what they were doing the first time they heard Rush saying these amazing things on the radio —things they had long believed they were alone in thinking.
Back when I had access to a DVR, one of the shows I recorded off RFD-TV was the Alberta Farm Report. I always found it interesting how Canadians pronounce the word “produce” (being used to describe fruits and vegetables). Where I come from the “o” is a “long vowel”... pronounced Proh-doos. The Canadians pronounce it as a “short o”... as in “Prah-doos”.
This morning I was listening to some Christian programming on the AM band and he was a Canadian... and he pronounced another word backwards from me... it’s was another “pro” word... but this time I would have said Prah... and they said Proh... wish I could remember the word.
ANYWAYS... Rush pronounces the word “schedule” funny, BUT if he ever said it like I do... I would be very disappointed.
I say Con-COM-itantly. There are numerous regional accents in the U.S., and I spent most of my younger days around Boston, with a rather British accent. Would it be better if I grew up on Lon-Gisland, or in New Joisey?
I fail to see why I should be guided in pronunciation by a bunch of radio and TV announcers, mostly left-wing idiots, as if they knew the language better than I do.
I remember hearing him way back then and thinking “who is this guy? He thinks like me”.
Literally, Rush caught that within a minute or two of KrunkyGirl’s posting.
It was in the daily Rush thread.
Very cool. Thanks for the hat tip, Rush!
