Tu Quo Que argument.
RT was the first one to break the story last year about a U.S. aircraft carrier headed to being off the coast of Syria.
Reason.com (a truly excellent source for info) followed up RT in reporting this. They both reported on this when others wouldn’t touch the story.
In time others followed.
Not saying that Rt is fool proof. Hardly. They, like the New York Slimes, Washington Compost, MSDNC, See BS and others must have their stories verified.
In the end, everything (regardless of the source) must be verified - be its state-run media in the U.S. or Russia, as many - unfortunately - are pro-Svoboda, pro-Putin, pro-Pravy Sektor, pro-Nazi, etc
“Why should the U.S. help Ukraine if doing so would indirectly or directly help Nazi Svoboda, Right Sector? Svoboda was given 1/4 of the interim govt seats.”
Svoboda secured more representation in the interim goverment because the oppositon party absented themselves after their role in the criminal corruption of their maladministration and their subversion on behalf of the Russian KGB-FSB was revealed. Normally, Svoboda has very little influence in the government, because they have had a representation in the parliament of 7.5% or less of the seats and not much representation in the government. The present overrepresentaotin will likely recede again closer to its past levels when the May elections are completed and later elections normalize the government.
As for the accusations coming from Russia’s propagandists and apologists about the presence and influence of Fascists in the state and its government, consider the question of which states are free of the same accusation. See the following lists of Fascist political organizations and take note of which states currently have active fascist political organizations. Then give us a list of those states which you then continue to assert also do not deserve to enjoy the right of mutual self-defense of their territorial integrity under international law, the Kellogg-Briand Pact, and the United Nations Charter.
Also, please explain to us how Ukraine is any less deserving of mutual defense when Russia has similar or worse problems with Fascist, Bolshevist, and other totalitarian organizatons wielding political influence in Russia and among Russian expatriots.
“Might as well arm the Syrian rebels! That would also be a dumb move. And Americans lasy year saw through that and around 80% said NO.”
It is going to require some very extraordinary explanations to remotely attempt to equate or compare the Ukrainian people and their current interim government to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Jihadist movement. You do realize the vast majority of the Ukrainian people and government disapprove of Svoboda and the former Russian subverted government of Yanukovych and his appointed ministers?
You’re arguing with one of the troops from the FReeper Division of the Red Army. In their delusions Ukraine is the Third Reich incarnate and they’re breathless waiting for the day when the New Soviet Man liberates Ukraine and smashes the Fascists.
Glossary of Terms for this post:
Ukraine: A country in Eastern Europe that is the last refuge of the Fascist regime of Adolf Hitler.
Fascists: People who have a yellow and blue flag and who refuse to acknowledege the superiority of the New Soviet Man.
Delusions: Things you see on RT, Pravda, and other Russian news sources.
(-:
Please, tell us why we should get involved? To stop Putin for Obama’s sake? Nope.
We could have stopped Assad at one time, and Obama blew it. He waited too long. Obama waited too long, once again.
We are not the world's policeman, we don't have any obligation to help Ukraine as they are not a member of NATO.
We are $17 trillion dollars in debt. We are broke. Let Europe handle this. Most Americans could care less about Ukraine.
Let the Ukrainians sort this out themselves or let Europe handle it.
In other words, you know you cannot answer the question, so you are going to change the subject and hide out in the tall grass to avoid the fact there is a obligation for mutual defense, and many of tha nations around the world who are capapble of mutual defense have some form of Fascist organization involved in their politics, including Russia. So, you really have no valid arguments to support your suggestion the victims of Russia’s aggressions must be didivded in their response to those Russian aggressions.
No it isn't,
If for example I said, "You think there's a 'News Media' in Ethopia?" which would be totally besides the point, that would be a Tu Quo Que arguement.
But in this case, the news media reporting is RT...Russian. The poster questioning the US media is at the same time taking the Russian media at their word.
Hence my appropriate question.
Your complete lack of concern about the Russian neo-NAZIs Russia’s FSB is paying to serve as spies and provacateurs to incite riots, insurrection, and destabilization of the Ukrainian governments tends to invalidate your comments fostering fear, uncetainty, and doubt among the would be defenders of the Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
As Jim Robinson and I talked about on another thread: it is too late now with Ukraine. We need to stay out of this.
Take your interventionist crap elsewhere.
Most Americans are tired of being world cop, don't want to get involved, and we are $17 trillion in debt.
They are not a part of NATO, either.
Thus with all said, you have no argument.
And you take the U.S. MSM at their word?
Good grief.
As Rush Limbaugh says: we have a state-run MS media in the U.S.
Wake up.
Ad Homs (personal attacks) are now your last resort.
The rule here is this. Follow it. NOW:
Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, No racism or violence in posts.
I advocate staying out of this and it boils down to Odumbo waiting TOO long to get involved in any way shape or form in Ukraine. Jim Robinson and I agreed with this on another thread> get with the program, the correct one at that.
Helping in any way now would have been like helping the Syrian “rebels” when Obama wanted to. It would have meant a very good chance at helping terrorists. NO WAY.
And NO WAY now helping Ukraine as long as Svoboda and Right Sector haven't been run out of the country by the Ukrainian govt.
Helping the Syrian “rebels” when Obama wanted too would equal helping the Ukrainians now. Arms might end up in the hands of Svoboda or Right sector or some other scum.
But you, you seem to want interventionism of some sort at all costs.
No way.
This is Europe's problem. Leave it alone.
