I always thought that deep down, Chevy Chase was an incredible jerk. They had a roast for Chase some years ago, and supposedly the digs were so deep, Chase realized that many people, including many of his “friends,” did indeed dislike him intensely. Some people need to be taken down a peg or two. I don’t know if this is true about Christie, but I’m not losing sleep over this incident.
Dean Martin had more wit, class, charisma and anything else positive that you can name than a busload of what passes for entertainers today. There is nothing going on today in the “entertainment” world that deserves to be mentioned in the same paragraph with the Dean Martin show. Most of the current crowd would not qualiy to shine his shoes.

I watched a couple of celebrity roasts recently - Betty White was on one of them and it was extremely vulgar and over the top, including her comments. Humor is clearly in the toilet at this point.
Not to mention in short supply.
Most of what passes for humor nowadays ain't funny. It's either nasty...or it's just dumb.
